Why is everyone pissing and moaning about what is UNDERNEATH the club? The top is black, isn't that exactly what everyone wanted last year? I remember when Nike came out with the red Covert, two years ago and people said they wouldn't touch it because it was red... Now those people are saying they won't touch a black driver, that has green underneath?

It first has to pass the racks of clubs in the shop test, where the bottoms of every club are displayed, not their tops. Most people don't ask the ugliest person in the room to dance.

When TM came out with white drivers a lot of people (like me) thought it was ridiculous. Worked out pretty well for them though.

But at the same time that bright color is going to catch your attention enough to be wth is that! May not be the prettiest thing out there but definitely will catch your attention even if its "ugly"

I for one like the architectural, graphic look of this line of clubs.

I happen to like the volt...maybe there is a bit more in the cavity to my liking but I don't hate it.

 

At the launch event I was discussing the new drivers with some of the Nike guys...I believe they said the crown is matte charcoal with Volt accents.

 

There are indeed three versions. I was told I will like the pro best...but the Flex I believe is the "TOP" model.

 

Also, NO GLUED Version!

 

Lastly, here is some really great news.

 

Flexloft has been slightly improved but remains BACKWARDS COMPATIBLE.

 

Nike has clearly been reading the forum.

 

Could this photo be a performance fairway. Since no glued driver?

Never liked Nike clubs but I hit the covert 2.0 and it changed my mind completely... Bought the matte black driver and never looked back. I've never hit the ball straighter. Got the "red" 3W same thing... Who cares about the look that's for posers, it's about performance for me in my money games, hope nike keeps the same path, can't wait to hear the reviews on performance, not how it looks!

You're likely right, Nike is not targeting AARP members, like me. But the Volt strategy is going to lock them out of a whole lot of buyers. Half the market?

I can't stand the design of the SLDR either, beyond its reviews as an unforgiving beast. The new Vapor's design seems to borrow from it.

From what I have heard, the RZN Plat and Black are going forward and there is going to be a new ball released. I am not sure if it will be between them or closer to an "RX" type ball. Also, they are supposed to be releasing a "volt" colored ball, which I cannot wait to see.

One thing I really like is there is no big, blinged out plastic badge stuck in the cavity. Just a simple painted swoosh. Like the green or not, that's an easy fix...

Regardless of color, I like the design of this sole better than the pics of that new Callaway BB Alpha which IMO, the sole looks like the top of a spaceship, maybe Star Trek like. Just too busy without any cool factor. But with differing opinions, some will love it. But for me, it's something a paint job can't fix.

Took a picture on my new phone, then went home and synced my phone now pictures are gone. bleh...

The RZN Black has been a great ball, that and the vapor are the two nike balls I usually play if I'm not slinging around some FG Tour balls.

I am one of the biggest Nike fans, my closet is full of the swoosh, but this VOLT thing has gone way overboard. Comparing the VOLT to, silver on the 915 or to custom options that Cobra offers is apples to doorknobs. Cobra used orange to market Fowler, the same as Nike did for TW. Cobra also offers 4-5 other colors so you can get what you want. Nike is offering VOLT on basically every product that they make, I refused to buy Nike running shoes the other day because in wide they only offered VOLT. Imagine if Puma offered everything that they make in Fowler orange? [/color][/size]

So if this driver performs better for you than any other driver, you would not use it because of the color of the sole? That's just dumb.

I'll never understand how would even consider sacrificing performance because of the color of a club, much less the sole of the club. What are you looking at when you hit a golf ball? I find that keeping my eye on the ball usually works best. And if you are keeping your eye on the ball whilst executing a golf shot, the appearance of the club doesn't really come into play, does it?

Honest question; would you rather play better or or look cool whilst playing not quite as well? Are looks more important to you than performance?

I don't care what a club looks like if it performs better than anything else. I personally would rather score better than look cool.

That being said, if there are two clubs that I find perform equally, I will then consider the aesthetics and go with the one more pleasing to the eye.

But how can performance not be the #1 factor in the decision matrix? If you are being paid to play a certain brand, I would understand completely. If not, then looks over performance is just ridiculous.

A better score is far more impressive than the appearance of your equipment.

And if you really let the appearance affect how you hit the ball with that club, that is all in your head and you have some mental things to work on. I'm not joking or putting you down, because I surely know some people who have had that same issue. And some of them were able to overcome it when they realised that they are looking at the ball whilst swinging and not the club.

The tech behind this driver is awesome! Movable CG and Flex Flight...that is sweet.

And I think the color is cool.
