If Rory feels it is better than his current gamer it may be in the bag. That would be great for Nike.

These are the best pics I could gather from the video of the crown. Looks like there might be a little more detail than just black with a volt swoosh:

ScreenShot2014-09-20at95447AM.png

ScreenShot2014-09-20at95639AM.png

It looks like the crown has the same diamond plate pattern that the Vapor irons have in the cavity. The driver on the video looks 487x better than the photos shown here. I'll cut Nike some slack and suspend the VOLT posting until I see more.

I was 100% positive nothing would knock the i25 out, mainly because I need alignment help. I wonder if the diamond pattern is actually an alignment aid as well...if so I could be in trouble.

I don't think you entirely read my post, so I will try again. In the end if a driver is properly fit the end results will be the exact same no matter what driver you pick. If you are a high spin player you can find the proper shaft and low loft G30 that gets the exact same results as a low spin SLDR that has two degrees more loft. It comes down to dynamic loft for spin. If you have a x swing speed you have a theoretical/practical max for distance. The SLDR might require a 12 degree head to achieve it where the G30 requires a 9.5 degree head. I agree MOI might be different performance attribute, but Tom Wishon and Taylor Made have stated that the difference between 5000 MOI and 4000 is not much at all. These companies are investing large sums of money to convince us that their next driver is better than their older one, but in the end all that should change is sound, looks, and feel.

Now if you disagree then their is no way I can convince you otherwise and you can't convince me, so I don't want to derail Nike's thread.
Sorry but the only truth to your statement is that cor is maxed. I've been properly fit in to 4 different drivers. The performance is most definitely not the same. Some heads have a draw bias, some have a fade bias. The weighting varies. Some of that meshes with a golfer better than another golfer. Using Nike as an example between the performance head and tour head, you couldn't fit me into a performance head, no matter the shaft, that could match the tour head's spin, even with a regular flex high launch shaft (I use x). This is why they make different heads.
This and the post from golfpros1 probably explained what I was trying to say a little better. I do agree with some of your points, but all drivers are not created equal and if it takes a $400 - $1000 shaft to get one driver to perform the same as another stock driver, that is completely unreasonable and ridiculous. And even after that, they will still not perform exactly the same.

You've already disagreed with yourself after saying look, sound, and feel are the only differences in drivers and then pointed out differences in the performance of different drivers.

If your point is that people can achieve optimal results from with proper fitting, then I would agree with you 100%. But no one will ever agree that look, sound and feel are the only differences in all new drivers.

Could not agree more with Tiger's comments in that article. The performance of the Coverts low on the face is not very good, nor is the sound or feel. Really looking forward to improvements in those areas with the Vapors.

I would not be very surprised if Rory had the Vapor Pro in the bag this week. Had heard rumors a while back that he was begging Nike to hit the new driver, but they would not let him.

I guess I didn't accurately state my position. Yes drivers have differences. Different colors, cg's, fa's, lie angles, lengths....So yes they are different. But from the perspective of max performance they can provide, they are ALL the same. You just change the way you achieve it. So if you are fit properly with a G30, Nike, or SLDR you will have the same performance. Therefore looks, feel, and sound are the only thing that sets them apart. If you don't understand my position, or agree with it there is nothing else I can do for you.

In theory you are correct. I think in practice you're not. While there is more than one way to skin a cat, and different ways to achieve ideal numbers, finding a driver with the correct shaft profile for your swing will resort in more consistent drives. In some ways, it's the reverse of how most peole choose a driver. Find a shaft that you can constantly deliver back to the ball, then pair it up with the head that gives you the best numbers. I don't beleive that theiir are ideal combinations that will work with every head like you suggest.
