What is the longest iron in your bag?

For me it's 4-iron followed by a 20 degree Adams hybrid. With stronger lofts, the 4-iron in my J40DPCs is the same loft as the 3-iron in the 962Bs I was playing (I ordered it a degree strong at 22 degrees) & the 20 degree hybrid is a nice fit. Sometimes I miss a 2-iron when I need to hit a narrow fairway on a short hole, especially if it's windy. Feel more confident I can start the ball on line & keep it down with a long iron than a hybrid. But as I get older I find myself needing to hit a green from around 200 yards or a little more too often & the hybrid is way better for me for that than a long iron ever was.

3 iron, then a turned down 17 degree hybrid. Given how well I am striking irons right now I might bring back my old school 1 iron and remove the hybrid. That 1 iron would also be 17 degree so it would almost be like for like... just need to see how well it still works for me after a year and change out of the bag.

EDIT: Loft on the 3 irons in both my sets are 21 degrees (MP-4 and Apex MB).

I think the better question is the loft of your longest iron.

Now with these slots irons with trampoline faces the 5 irons are like 23* loft, which is approaching a 3 iron to me.

I play pretty strong lofted iron as well with my longest iron as a 5 iron at 24*.
[/quote]My 30*/37.5" 7 iron is the same loft and length of the 6 iron I replaced it with. It suits me as a minimalist player, but I can see how this might mess up some who are considering going with a full complement of clubs.

I'm a fit 34 year old...

5 iron then a 21* hybrid @ 39.75"

The rarity of ever having to use a 3/4 iron made me replace both with a hybrid and add a wedge. The hybrid can cover both clubs just fine for me.

3 iron. MB 710

Much straighter and much more consistent ball flight than a hybrid. Reliable 200 - 210 yd club. Will hold a green just fine if played with a slight bit of fade spin.

On particularly windy nasty days, I may put in the 2 iron in place of the 5 wood. The 2 iron carries about the same distance as the 3 iron, but rolls out with the lower trajectory. I can't effectively hold a green with it, so only employ it when weather dictates.

3 iron.

I tried a 20* hybrid for awhile but found that I rarely need that 210-215 yd distance from the fairway.

I use to hit 3iron off the tee exclusively when I started playing because I would slice my driver so bad. I just got in the habit of having one because of this. It's also works great for hitting worm burners out from under the trees.

I've typically carried a 3 iron and a 2 driving iron. I've recently adjusted my gaps to 4* through the set so have my 4 iron bent to 22* and dropped the 3
