Robert Allenby Robbed and Beaten Up in Hawaii

Steve Sands just gave us the news. Missed the cut, was on the mainland, and got beaten up and robbed. The people who did this left him in a park and someone found him.

The Golf Channel broadcast just reported this. I believe he is safe now but his face got jacked up during the ordeal. Apparently he was out having some drinks after missing the cut when it happened.

Absolutely crazy. Good thing the cowardly scum were not career kidnappers as I'm sure Allenby is worth a bit more than the cash they got out of his wallet. Hope they're caught and brought to justice swiftly.

It sickens me to read about this but it's a blessing that Robert survived to recount the senseless act of extreme violence. As traumatizing as this experience probably was, it could have been worse. Here's to a speedy recovery for Mr Allenby and swift (and tough but appropriate) justice for the perps.

To stereotype hawaiian locals, it's unfortunately known for some thugs that hate tourists, and particularly at and around bars late at night. When you go to Hawaii, you stick with the resort atmosphere.

Pretty much a point of common sense when visiting tourist'y tropical islands. Stay around the coast, don't go inland. When stuff starts looking faded, you've gone too far.

Unfortunately, many tend to forget that Honolulu is a major city with many of same problems typical of other metropolitan areas. Certainly wish Allenby the best and hope perpetrators are brought to justice, just not wise to go out and get highly intoxicated and make yourself an easy target no matter the locale.
