What Did You Shoot Today? (Continuation)

A thrilling 18 hole round today in 25 mph winds with gusts to 40. A straight south wind is a crosswind on 12 of the holes. A par 3 into the wind went from a normal 7 iron to a 4 hybrid and another went from a 7 to a PW.

The driver and putter showed up to play, but the rest probably should have waited in the car.

8 hit fairways and an average drive over 240 yards is way better than normal for me. In this wind, it was an astounding day off the tee.

I only hit 3 GIRs but holed out twice from the fringe for pars.

So it's a round of 42-42= 84 with a scant 27 total putts. For a while, I thought my number of putts and chips was going to be the same. If I had missed my approaches in better locations than buried in a bunker, buried in four inch high clover or twenty yards over the green with a back pin, I might have gotten out with a really good round.

Last 2 rounds have been rough,

44 front, needed to warm up.... 36 even par back... second time in my life I have ever shot even par on a side......I was laying 1 on 18 200 yards away from the green... par I make 80 birdie I make 79.......I had to go for it... sucker pin..... shortsided myself into bunker.......escaped and 2 putted for par....

Yesterday..... SUPER bust....47 front...1 triple, 4 doubles.......losing out my you know what.......come to 9th down 3.......almost hole out from the fairway (hit the cup and pin) for a 3ft birdie, escape 9......

Then come to the par 5, 3rd. Hole out for Eagle from almost the exact same shot as 9... shot 39...... 8 shot swing from front and back...... this game is nuts......

I think I need to show up early and warm up so I can shoot 2 good sides......

I shot like a 90 because I had a lot of pain in my shoulder (bursitis) but tried to gut it out thinking it would get better. Not smart but I have it in my head I have to work harder if things are not working. Disappointing because I was shooting in low 70s a couple weeks ago when I was pain free. Gotta lay off the golf for a while and hopefully heal up.

I love it when it all comes together!

37-41=78

I tied my record number of birdies in a round with three. All three came in a four hole stretch. I've never had that happen before. An ill advised attempt to reach a green with a 5 iron that found a watery grave was the only shot I would like back.

30 putts

Ten fairways hit ties my best round of the year.

Nine GIRs ties the second best round of the year.

Even better, I walked the 18 in a smooth 2 hours 40 minutes on a day I didn't think I'd get to play due to thunderstorms.

More bonus golf today as the course was so wet, no carts were permitted. The weather was close to perfect this afternoon so I saw a lot of cars drive to the pro shop and then drive back out while I was playing the first few holes. So this walker got a sub three hour round on a Saturday afternoon in May.

A bit more smoke and mirrors today for a 39-40=79

The driver was still on as I hit 9 fairways and even the distance was good for me.

The problem children were the short irons. I hit six greens, but none of the first putts were closer than 33 feet. Most of my misses were closer to the hole and with an easy chip, so I got up and down for par 7 times.

Can the streak of sub 80 rounds reach three?

Played 9 with my wife.

Shot a 41 (par 36) on the front 9 at my local Muni. Theres only one par 3 and one par 5. Bogeyed both and a few others obviously. Was kind of lost in regards to my swing. Just didn't feel confident. Got better as the round went on but all things considered, didn't lose a ball and didn't score worse than bogeys. Lipped out a birdie putt and a par putt so if they went I'd be right about where I usually am on an off day. Have a new driver and hybrids I'm still getting used to also so I was a little weary off the tee.

A lot of positives and I feel like I am not far away from mid season form.

Frickin' 88. Couldn't hit a drive to save my life. Hit 2 fairways. Thank god my putting was good today - made a few 8-10 footers, and my second putts were all under 2 feet, which is crazy for me.

I hit my little knock down 6-iron punch out of the trees NINE TIMES today. Just throwing the strokes away. I'd have been better off to hit my tee shots with a 5-iron all day.

4 over 75 Saturday followed by a 3 over 74 Sunday pretty solid weekend of golf. This new HZRDUS Yellow shaft I put in my driver was a game changer this weekend. Averaging around 13 pars a round right now just need to start dropping some birdies to shoot some really good scores.

Yesterday, somewhere north of 100 :(

I had a couple of very good holes and my striking was good. I even got complemented on one drive by a stranger because I allowed for the wind beautifully. The ball went over the trees separating the two fairways and was then blown back in a graceful arc and ended up in the middle of our fairway.

But overall I just seemed to be plagued by bad luck. Three unplayable lies (and I have the scars on my hand from picking one out of a gorse bush - my ball picker couldn't get a hold of it) and even a lost ball. It just seemed like if an approach shot could go wrong it would go badly wrong. I actually stopped scoring on the 14th because it was getting me down (it was only a regular social with my mate and he gave up scoring for a different reason) but by then I was already at 96. I'd have struggled to keep it below 100 from there even on a good day.

A bit of a shame since Thursday and the previous Sunday were good days but that's golf when you're an amateur I suppose.

pretty happy with my 79 despite the conditions yesterday. muggy, humid, overcast and warm with 20MPH winds and managed to shoot my best ever at this course who eats my lunch every round. i'm consistently getting better every round. the greens were not biting at all but still managed to do decent on sticking greens that were very thick and slow. flop game needs some work.

Kind of a ho hum 75 yesterday, nothing too exciting (and a rating just under 69, so not a tough course)

Today was nuts though. Started out hitting everything left (if I had been playing a course with OB left who knows what the final number wouldhave been). Through eight holes, zero fairways hit. Most were punch outs. Managed one par, and on the one hole I was left but open, hitthe green and made birdie.

Five over through eight. On the fringe of the par five ninth in two and chip in for eagle. Turn in 39.

Back nine. Four birdies and one bogie (on 18, I hate finishing poorly). Even par 72. Seven bogies, five birdies, one eagle, five pars.

I just got done playing 18, and shot an 80. I choked on 18 and made a double for the 80. As disappointing as not breaking 80 was…I am actually very happy with this round as the wind was blowing 20-25 mph all day.

Highlights of the day included a knockdown 6 iron on a 145 yard par 3 leaving me 3 feet from the pin and making birdie, as well as a HUGE downwind drive that left me at 80 yards on a 400 yard par 4. I parred the whole as my pitch went long, but I did make 2 putts so there's that.

I shot 43 on my course's front 9 with one fairway hit and one GIR.

13 putts, including a 30 footer for par. My only other par was a missed 6 foot birdie putt.

Driving was terrible and irons (with one notable exception) were terrible.

On the other hand, it took only 80 minutes to play and I only used one ball.

Had league last night .... PGA National - Fazio course ... in the rain.

Shot a 42, 4 pars, 4 bogeys and a double. Only hit 2 fairways and 3 greens. Block city most of the time off the tee. Was having a tough time holding on the club towards the end. 18 putts with a 3 putt sprinkled in.

Managed to save back to back pars after hitting into a fairway bunker two times in a row. 155-170 out and managed to hit the green and two putt to save par.

Could've been a lot worse.

Played solid today in some rough wind. If it weren't for the 3 jack on the front it couldve been an epic round.

My round of 42 this evening started with a snap hook into a tree. I didn't see it come down, so I hit another that went even further left and I never found it. This is why I don't take mulligans, the second is always worse than the first. The first ball did drop out of the tree and right next to the trunk. Unplayable ball up against a tree trunk #4 for the year. I almost had #5 on the seventh. So the round opened with a triple.

Despite not hitting a single fairway, I did manage to hit five greens.

I missed a six footer for birdie on #8 last time and missed a seven footer for birdie tonight.

To bring the up and downess of the round to a proper conclusion, I found a five dollar bill lying in the fifth tee box. I left it with the pro closing up the place.

98 on a course rated 136 and was not my home course. Got some breaks since most bunkers were under repair, but overall things wen't really well. Another revision where the index is dropping started the year at a 28.5, trending right now is 22.8. Still working on the 2017 goals of a HC under 20 and a round under 90.

HC - 22.8

Best Round - 94
