General question:

Trying to keep consistent stats on Grint, namely driving accuracy. How would you mark a teeball on a drivable hole, where you were within a couple yards of the green and chipped on in regulation?

I'm inclined to change a few of the Rattlewood stats back to "hit fairway" so it doesn't throw off the trend as an outlier, when the drives were indeed on target.

If you were on the fringe or short grass then FW, IMO.

Obviously if it is in the rough then its missed.

GTW: my best round of the year was an 83 from the blues at Waverly at the start of the handicap season. Gave me a lot of initial hope for the season that hasn't really panned out. Haven't put up an equally good differential since.

Played with PQ one weekday afternoon. I started terribly, and was +6 through the first 3 holes. But I was actually hitting the ball okay in that stretch. Main problem was a triple on #3 after I crushed one dead straight on to the road, not getting my fade. Played the next 12 holes at +1, with 3 birdies mixed in there. Knocked it stiff on #5 and #10 with pretty short birdie putts, and drained a long one on #11. After #15 I realized I was -1 on the back through 6 holes, and I let it get in my head. Made bogie on 16 and was even. Had a poor tee shot on 17 and really wanted to stay even par. Went for the hero shot and dunked it in the hazard. Should have laid up and played for bogie and attempted to make bird on 18. Ended up bogeying 18 anyway. It was kind of soul crushing to finish like that, but no round there is safe until you clear 17.

Hit 8 GIR that day, which I've met or surpassed a number of times since then. But haven't limited the mistakes or made the birdie putts like I did that day. After the 3rd hole, the only bad shot I had was the one on 17.

Goose, long run it won't amount to a hole of beans, but I'd still mark it rough. Just like getting in the fringe near a hole might be better than hitting the green 50 feet away but I still don't count t the green in regulation.

Gtw: the year was 2016. A young Joe Piscopo taught a nation to laugh...

I don't know. 75 at Mt Pleasant in a tournament where the field got crushed was pretty good. 9 iron for Eagle helped. Lower case eagle autocorrects to uppercase Eagle. Lulz.

The 73 at UMD was the round I felt the best tho. Driver was just going where I looked. Hit some great shots. Made some nice putts. Got away with a couple misses.

Best round was the 77 at needwood.

Great dudes to play with

, which made the round so much fun. (DT, Cfree, eagle)

I have been/still searching for my swing off the tee and I found it for that round. I had a couple of hiccups but most rounds we all do.

Just a easy and relaxing round. except for when I hit myself...still hurts.

Of course the icing on the cake was

B2B on 17 then18 to clinch the match was the best feeling. All of the shots were just pure and felt like I knew what I was doing.

Golf Talk Wednesday : Regale us with a tale about your best round of the season so far.

Probably this past Saturday at Rattlewood, although that course has a rating reflective of its difficulty. It stands out for me because it's a break in the crappy play I've had throughout the season.

Iron play was really solid and my driving distance average was pretty nuts. The back 9 was a sweet run and my putting was good, but not good enough to convert a few more birdies. Multiple looks at eagle and major window for scoring.

Wasn't even down about the two doubles I made, had I hit 7 iron off those tees the round would have been really good. That wasn't fitting for the stableford format though.

*Otherwise, I'd count my Greystone round from June but that was casual with coworkers and sometimes you just make every single putt you look at. It wasn't that great of a round.

Golf Talk Wednesday : Regale us with a tale about your best round of the season so far.

Second round at RTJ, shot 79 with four birdies, lipped out an eagle putt and another birdie from 15 feet that I left DFC. Best part was I played with our head pro who was a s-ton of fun to play with.

Best shot of the year was in that round, a 5 wood second shot into a Par 5 thats over water. The member was telling me all the bailout areas on the right and I ignored everything he had to say, landed a perfect high shot in the middle of the green and it fed left to 20 feet. Two putt for birdie.

http://www.gamegolf....ole_id=26634150

Only bad part about the hole was losing my skin to another guy in my group. He topped a drive off the tee, slashed one out of the rough to up near the water in two. Hit his third, it skipped three times off the water, hopped the retaining wall and rolled to two feet - tap in for birdie.

Golf Talk Wednesday : Regale us with a tale about your best round of the season so far.

Not sure I have one, but I guess it would have to be my 2nd 18 at Tobacco Rd. Far from a perfect round, but I had a bunch of solid shots, good putts, and finished strong. Had 3 eagle putts, but ended up with 3 birdies, which is fine.

Par 4 5th, 322 yard kinda dog leg left around waste bunkers, lasered 279 to pin, nailed a high fade to back of the green.

29600037061_c668f29906_b.jpg

Par 5 11th, 511 yd dog leg right (but plays much shorter), around waste bunkers, drove into the waste area but hit a 7-iron clean from 155 yards (uphill, over the steep faced bunker) right over the flag for a 12-15 foot eagle putt.

29570147832_2af2483446_b.jpg

Par 4 18th, 414 yd slight dog leg left, tee shot over the much-photographed 'wall' of dirt, hit a pure sawed off 6-iron from 175-180 off sidehill lie to 8 feet. One of the best irons I've hit in a long time.

29390579880_54ec309e90_b.jpg

The sprinkling of the great shots and the general golf experience made that the round of the year thus far.

And yes, I just wanted to post Tobacco Rd pictures again.

Floppy Hat Fraudster Strikes Again in North Potomac

Montgomery County police believe a man wearing a floppy-style hat, more commonly known as a “bucket hat,” previously wanted in a Bethesda credit card theft has struck again in North Potomac.

I don't know about you, but I'm going to try to avoid anybody wearing a bucket hat.

Anyone seen the commercials for the new Golf Channel driver design challenge show - looks like a combination design show combined with Shark Tank.

Looks like its sponsored by Wilson, so, take that for what you will. Dont know, worth the DVR space.

Probably.

Got the Seemore Si5 in the mail today and took it for an hour spin on the putting green. Definitely solid, and in strong honeymoon territory at the moment. We'll see if that lasts when I actually play a round with it.

As DC kept saying our last round, "it's not the club it's me"

Don't be that guy...of course it's always the club..

DC was telling you it wasn't the club? Are you sure it was him? The guy that has a new driver and putter every time I see him?

I'm a firm believer in the "it's not the club, it's me". But that goes out the window when you lose confidence on the putting surface.

How much do you practice?

I practice putting more regularly than anything because I have stuff set up in my home office. On average, I get on a real putting green once a week and play once a week.

I don't think my putting was a "swing problem", but rather terrible alignment. Always lined up right of where I thought the face was pointing, then getting it on line by pulling it. I was getting to the point where my brain knew I was aimed too far right, but my eyes didn't agree. So I knew what's wrong but couldn't wrap my eyes around it. Figured a change in alignment systems would be to my benefit. We'll see if that's actually true or if I end up with the same problem.

BTW, if you brought your clubs today, I would have had to bail on you. So that worked out for the best. I can't believe we've still never played together. Gotta fix that some time soon.

Love how DC is getting ornery in a thread with a popular WRX online TEACHer about game golf and PGA Tour driving distances and how they are measured.

One person just simply can't admit they're wrong (hint: it's not DC). So comical.

There is just a string of 15-20 1 star reviews on GolfAdvisor. Couple guys made pretty good points, if its so bad right now, they should close. They are acknowledging it is pathetically bad - to the point of giving people free rounds when they check in - but yet they are still taking people's money.
