Which Accessories Identify You As A Hacker?

Recommended Posts

Love my retriever. I'm not good (10.5 right now), but the retriever allows me to grab new prov1's that have literally been hit once out of the creek. I consider the people who hit those balls (and paid for them) to be the real hackers. I'm just cheap and have a mediocre golf game.

Β

A buddy of mine used to do that, went out every Friday night through the summer about 6 pm. He'd play like 6 - 9 holes depending and went to the same spots every time. He went 2 years without buying a golf ball and only played Pro-V's in that stretch.

Β

I go ball hunting every November and generally come away with 50-70 pro-V's per course I hit.

LOL! My full persimmon set has about 3/4 of all that stuff complete with the aluminum rake style ball retriever! I love the looks and chuckles I get on the first tee when I pull up with my vintage red Wilson Staff bag with FG-17's in tubes and Persimmon woods and then commence the beat down!

Β

Man. If someone got added to my group with a vintage bag and FG 17s.... That is a sure sign of someone who is going to kick a**, not a hacker.

Yep, exactly. Find a lot of good balls. Also find a lot of crappy balls that I usually give to friends who don't really care what they shoot/how they play. I've got about a hundred like new prov1s, but I still look in this particular creek. Don't hold anyone up...and why not? If I saw 3-4 bucks in a creek, and it takes me 10 seconds to pick it up, I'm going to do it every time. So why not grab balls...

I don't have a ball retriever so I don't do the creek thing, but I definitely give out the extra balls to my wife and hacker friends. I usually bring a 5 gallon bucket full on our trips for reloading or just messing around and hitting into the woods at night after enjoying some cold ones all day long.

Guys who wear hats from clubs they've obviously never played, like Augusta. Oh wait, I have one of those hats

At least you've been there. I'm one one of those phonies who just has the hat and won't wear it because I don't want to get asked about being there

It's additional proof that you're a hack when you carry a ball retriever because it seems like you need to be fishing golf balls out of the water to the point where it's cheaper to buy a big rod over another sleeve of balls.

Β

iron covers.

My buddy uses iron covers. And he gets a new set of clubs every three months. No dings on the heads, trades em in every time before the 90 days is up. Gets 95% back.......LOL

I want to be this man.

In my mind not too smart to deduce that someone's a hacker because they carry a ball retriever. Seems like a good idea from an economic perspective. Why throw away balls when you don't have too??? I have a sense that those who have such an opinion are overly concerned with cosmetics and are likely to be the real wannabees.

I use iron covers and am far from being a hack. I am a bit OCD and do not like seeing the bag chatter on my mizuno irons. Its funny because the other day I was paired up with a guy who thougt i was a hack due to me having iron covers. He wanted to play $250 a side. Needless to say this "hack" with iron covers cleaned his clock. He did not win one hole. To me iron covers are a personal preference and I like to keep my clubs as pristine as I possibly can. LOL my girlfriends dad loves to golf. The first time I met her parents we had a tee time booked. I borrowed one of my friends vintage purple bags and loaded it up with V-Steel woods, my dads old Bridgestone Cavity 2s that I rigged up with new shafts a ball retriever and some iron covers. Shot a 74. One of the most enjoyable rounds I've ever played.
