Which Accessories Identify You As A Hacker?

Yes they are. They are very functional for golf.

i'm curious as to what you need 12 pockets for, for golf

Typical wrx oppositioal reply, 12 pockets. I count half of that at six pockets. Who cares how many pockets somebody else has on their pants while you play golf? As for more upscale courses and private courses, just adhere to the dress code of each particular course.

okay, some valid points you have made, but I have never seen a pair of cargo shorts with 12 pockets! When I am on a municipal golf course someone can wear cargo shorts with 24 pockets for all I care.

As the other commenter said, there are six pockets, not 12. And the functionality is as follows:

  1. They are comfortable. I like to be comfortable. I don't find other shorts comfortable.
  2. Right upper front pocket: Extra golf ball. Pitch mark repair tool.
  3. Right lower front pocket: Long tees.
  4. Left upper front pocket:: Short tees.
  5. Back left pocket (if on the rare occasion I have forgotten to put it in my bag): wallet.

(Ball marker clipped to cap visor, by the way. Don't really care if you don't like that either. Also don't care if you don't like my jeans in the spring and fall either - again, I like to be comfortable.)

i am a firm believer in "do what you want" and "think what you want"

so, i agree with you, cargo shorts are no problem, but i'm gonna think the person's a doofus.

The other person just may think you are a "doofus" as well. So there is that.

Cargo shorts

Color matching everything (some exceptions I guess)

cargos are ok for munis.

No they are not. you're an adult, dress like one.

No they are not. you're an adult, dress like one.

Did Trump just pass an executive order that instituted a new "adult defining" dress code? I guess I missed it!

He would have appointed someone unqualified to be Secretary of Fashion as well.

that may be the case, and they're free to think it.

i've seen many a cargo short that has more than 6 pockets, but 12 may have been an exaggeration. anyway, you seem like the sort of person that doesn't let different foods touch each other on a plate, which, again, is your prerogative. but of course i also think that's silly. different strokes for different folks. we should probably just delete this whole thread because it's no longer light hearted. people are too sensitive

I must have been bored to have thumbed through this thread. I find most of it to be funny. The part I don't care for is the OP's comments that these hack identifiers that everyone is proposing are good to point out the easy marks regarding bets. If a hack (as defined here), also a sh*tty golfer decides to bet and loses all his money. Then that Hack deserved their fate. But I would love to be there when the hack wins the bet against someone who profiled them to begin with.

Hey!!I loose my money all the time. :|

We play on Wednesday "big money" games

18 dollars carry over skins game

$2 per hole round "wheelhouse" bets (me and my partner will take you and him, and you and the next guy, and you and the next guy for $2 a hole, double or nothing on 18th)

$ per man Wolf, usually 5 man. This usually gets bumped after 10 if someone is down 10 or more. There have been days that it was bumped before 5.... That was the day that 18 was worth 60 per man.... before the tee shots, and the whole "we double and we double back" stuff started. I am glad i was not in that bet...

There was another day that same group played an extra hole that was worth 124... and the team that was up 124, lost the extra hole... so walked away with NOTHING...

most I have ever lost was i think 62, thats including Wolf, and all side bets...

I am a 6-7 handicap playing with scratch and 2s, and 3s. and we play from the tips, which is not my normal. but because of this, my standard partner in the side bets is always the assistant pro.... he usually shoots around even par.

I am DEFINATELY the Hack in this group. There are a couple of guys that are 15 or more handicappers that play in the group, but they have a set "game" that they play in, and its only because they love to gamble, and if they are out of the hole, they pick up and just gamble.

Brush tees

Big plastic ball markers

Any surlyn covered ball under $20/dozen

Those ball stencils

Suction cup putter grip

A 7 wood

I'm guilty of all of these at one time or another

A 7 wood is an accessory? Yes, I can put another club in the bag! Oh wait, didn't someone mention having more than 14 clubs in the bag?!

Here's my checklist, hope I didn't miss anything.

1. Frogger retractable club brush.

2. Rangefinder + Arccos GPS plugs and phone app

3. Iron headcovers (took them off for a few rounds, but the OCD made me too nervous to play)

4. Oakley sunglasses with golf lenses

5. Yellow Srixon Z stars (too many leaves on the ground made it hard to see white balls, seemed logical to me)

6. Bag tags from top courses (took those off recently to save carrying weight, maybe I'll put them back on)

7. Poker chip from a cruise ship casino (thought it was good luck since I was the only one in the casino late and they closed down when I was way up, too bad they didn't know I would have given it all back before I left)

8. Took the dual balance Futura X out of the bag and went back to a blade to save weight, maybe that goes back too)

9. Hit driver on a 230 yard par 3 into the wind and made birdie, was kind of embarrassed at the time, but check.

10. Clicgear golf bag to match my push cart (now carrying a hoofer, but not sure how long that will last)

11. Driveway marker alignment sticks (with a cover made by Rose & Fire to keep them from scratching my woods).

12. Tincup ball stencils.

13. MY HANDICAP AS STATED HERE!

Really enjoying this thread, let's keep it going.

Cheers!

There will always be exceptions. I once saw a gentleman playing with two gloves and broke 80 with a rental set. However, these are too few and too far between. Never have I seen a golfer break 80 with plastic golf tubes and tube locks.

I have broken 80 on a regular basis with the tubes... I HATE THEM, but i dislike the tangled web of my golf clubs more (not so much the taking a club out, but more of the cant get it into the bag after a shot)

I too have the Frogger retractable brush. as does half my clubs lower handicappers. I am a hack trapped in a 7 handicap's body. I love a bunch of these gadgets...

the brush

the tubes (use them, but hate them)

Yellow Z-Star (i dont think they are easier for me to see, but I just like them)

I have a range finder AND a Garmin Watch, and use both, ON THE SAME SHOT... thats sad isnt it

my cart (see above) has two sand canisters, a cooler, and a ball/club cleaner on the bag rack not to mention the 6 towels in strategic locations (one for hands, two for clubs, PER SIDE)

a 36" inch light bar on the front, plus a street legal kit. (there is a story behind that)

a 6 inch lift kit, plus heavy duty suspension and "non agressive all terrain tires"

my garage has a simulator setup in progress

I am the definition of Hack if you look at me, and YES i usually am matching from head to toe... can be all puma if I want, but its not usually that way, just colors, as thats how I am everyday off the course as well.. just who I am

I see lots of "adults" wearing cargo shorts all the time.

I have no problem with cargo shorts, but to me, they say "lets go fishing. not lets play golf. I am a firm believer in dress for whatever you are doing. (I'm a fat, balding, aging white dude, so I gotta polish the turd) I dress up for everything that lets me.

I wear the nicest close I can buy (NICEST, NOT THE MOST EXPENSIVE) I love finding deals on great clothes on eBay and Amazon. If I were to go fishing, I would probably find a pair of Columbia Fishing Cargo shorts, and wear them with a PFG shirt (i have a couple of Florida Gator ones i wear from time to time)

I personally don't care what you wear on the golf course.... I will play with you if you wear jeans and a T-shirt.... you just won't catch me doing that. I am sure that I get made fun of behind my back all the time by members of my club, but I don't care. They elected me VP of the MGA within 6 months of me moving to my town and joining my club, so I am doing something right. But I am definitely "that guy" with the clothes and shoes.

I was brought up in the world of "clothing makes the man" my dad was a very successful attorney, and his dad was as well, and was even a senator in the 40s... so the idea of a custom made suit is normal to me. I can't personally afford that, but I think that way.

As you can see by all the gadgets i have on my cart and all the shizniz I carry with me, I fall into the category of hack... (i did give up the tubes in the bag yesterday, I just HATE them, and the new bag seems to not tangle as bad)

Then again, everyone here is a hack at some point or on some level. you can either embrace it and laugh at all the comments whether it is with or against your persona, or you can get offended. I chose to laugh at myself.

Enjoy the moment, you don't know how many you have left...

I think you would be enjoyable to play with.

I wish more people had that attitude, "I wouldn't wear it but don't care if you do". It really is amazing how a simple thing like a pair of shorts can get some people so worked up.
