Which Accessories Identify You As A Hacker?

Recommended Posts

Leaving the rain hood hanging off the bag when it is 90* and sunny.

A towel that says "Top-Flite" on it

A cleaning brush with a stretch cord

No head covers on the woods or cheap knit head covers full of holes

226 balls in the bag from 14 different brands/models

Novelty tees; champagne, brush etc.

A hat that says Strata, TM R5 or R7

A belt with silver conchos, a look that died in 1994.

I also like the guy with every golf glove he's ever owned stuffed into his bag. For each round he just pulls out a random, sepia-colored one without too many holes in it.

Another hacker sign is the shiny-smooth original OEM grip on his 20-year-old putter, with the end of the shaft poking out the butt of the grip.

Damn, you guys are harsh! :)

I never knew I was a such a hack! haha Me with my bag full of Taylormade clubs (well besides 2 wedges), my jumbo grip on the driver, my sometimes Bluetooth speaker, and my sometimes jeans. Just need to pick me up one of those fancy ball retrivers and a bead counter and I'll be golden. hahaha

BTW you'd have to pry my oversized driver grip from my cold, dead hands. I just had the best driving year of my life. (though I do admit going jumbo instead of just midsize was a mistake, but I'm glad I made it)

Also I hear ya on the being able to tell who's good or not... I used to like showing up to the course with my s*** bag and clubs and beat people. I used to imagine I was the kid in the old Top Flight commercials. Lol Also a guy I play with has equipment you could replace for $40 at a garage sale, and I can never beat him (don't even get me going on his golf attire).

Sometimes you just can't tell. :)

I'll rid my lself of my following hacker offenses. Four major offenses I learned about here.

Range finder

5 wedge setup used occasionally (PW 47, 51, 55, 59, pm grind 64)

Yellow balls

Grey goose logo on my bstone carry bag

I'm keeping my yellow balls, rangefinder, and Absolut vodka towel.

And I just bought a Dechambeau cap.

Hey!!I loose my money all the time. :|

We play on Wednesday "big money" games

18 dollars carry over skins game

$2 per hole round "wheelhouse" bets (me and my partner will take you and him, and you and the next guy, and you and the next guy for $2 a hole, double or nothing on 18th)

$ per man Wolf, usually 5 man. This usually gets bumped after 10 if someone is down 10 or more. There have been days that it was bumped before 5.... That was the day that 18 was worth 60 per man.... before the tee shots, and the whole "we double and we double back" stuff started. I am glad i was not in that bet...

There was another day that same group played an extra hole that was worth 124... and the team that was up 124, lost the extra hole... so walked away with NOTHING...

most I have ever lost was i think 62, thats including Wolf, and all side bets...

I am a 6-7 handicap playing with scratch and 2s, and 3s. and we play from the tips, which is not my normal. but because of this, my standard partner in the side bets is always the assistant pro.... he usually shoots around even par.

I am DEFINATELY the Hack in this group. There are a couple of guys that are 15 or more handicappers that play in the group, but they have a set "game" that they play in, and its only because they love to gamble, and if they are out of the hole, they pick up and just gamble.

Sounds like my kind of group

I'll save them for the big golfwrx outing.

This thread cracks me up. A single joined up with my group last year and exhibited many of these hacker mannerisms. Funniest thing was when he came up 2 clubs short on a par 3 and lamented to me that he caught a flier.

Sometimes you just can't tell. :)

Yes, but we need to realize that sometimes you can't tell. If the fellow you're paired up with has iron covers, golf tubes and a ball retriever you should bet heavily.

i'm a hack, and I know it as I play off a 15... but, and I don't see why people don't cover their irons, but, I flipping cover my irons. I can NOT stand the bag chatter clatter, and think that every time the irons hit each other, their value decreases...

maybe people don't use iron covers because they can be a nuisance taking on and off during around.

maybe people don't use iron covers because they're just gonna buy a new set of irons in 6 months anyway.

maybe people don't use iron covers because they think they'll look like a hack.

I don't really care for the look of them all on, but that's not what they're there for...

All's I know is that using iron covers -- again, for me and a few fellas I know and play with -- protects the value of the clubs AND reduces that annoying/grating bag chatter clatter.

I use iron covers as well, and don't find them bothersome at all. These same golfers who think iron covers are obsolete wouldn't dare not use a cover for their woods and putter, for the same reason we use them for our irons. To me, when I see a golfer using iron covers, it just tells me that they have a higher sense of value and respect for the game of golf.

Okay. The reason I don't use iron covers......

I keed I keed.

The best player at my course other than PGA pro Blayne barber, and the "assist pro" uses iron covers. So you can't judge by just looking . He is 65, 285 pounds and will go out and shoot 68 on a bad day.

at least you see it for what it is.

That has been my hobby since I bought it last july. I have redone it twice now.

Here is the thing. I live on the golf course, or close enough that it might as well be on the golf course. I'm 100 yards from 8 green, and 11 tee. However, the wife would NEVER allow me to spend 5 grand (about what I have in it all told, if you take of the first lift kit/tires/rims, because they were a mistake, live and learn) on something that was JUST FOR GOLF. she would, but it would be seen as a nuisance. However, I am smart enough to know, that I need to get "buy in" from her. That cart is the "family's neighborhood transporter" that I just so happen to use to play golf. We have as many hours roaming the neighborhood (350 houses, one way in, one way out) as i do in golf course time (well, maybe not, but as far as she is concerned we do) We use it at night to take her little purse dog for rides, we look for alligators (use a big a** redneck Qbeam to see them on the big lake) and we can get hammered at the club house, and never get behind a wheel of a car, and never get on the road.... plus my kid isn't old enough to drive, and he can use it when I am not. the only downside, the things front end is really sensitive, so it doesn't take many bumps on the golf course (tons of Live Oaks here with top of the ground roots) to knock the front end out of alignment. so it will eat tires if we use it on the pavement too much. tires are not cheap. front end is out now, and I cannot seem to get it aligned myself, and the repair facility here sucks donkey balls. and they are way overpriced.

Ok, first, Madison took me to the local RW&Blue(think a nicer Goodwill) and let me just say that I came directly from the hospital and was higher than a kite....

This is the longest friggin ball retriever I've ever seen and I'm not kidding, it had to be 20-25', which, if ya think about it, whether ya go 25' out and down, or just 25' down, what are the odds of scoopin a ball with that at full extension?

Ok, Maddie said that I gave it wayyyyyy too much thought but for $2.99, I thought it was a steal, lol

The KISS hat was for MadGolfer but Maddie said that I was walkin home if I didn't put it back-

Women ;)

Ya gotta believe me, I didn't used to be this effed up :)

Fairways & Greens My Friends,

RP

Awesome hat! I have a Gene Simmons driver headcover, but would be totally out of character for me to take out on the course. Seems like it only fits 400 cc heads, for some reason. Simmons must be a gamer...

Bro, I think the Genester is like Arnie in that he'll put his name on anything as long as there is a remote chance of makin a buck, lol

I bet that's a wicked cover, lol

Hell, I'd rock it, lol

Go good with my iron covers and new über telescoping ball retriever-

I can't wait to show up to Play with Madison again, lmao

I've got these large plaid Sansabelt trow and a Munsingwear Penguin shirt, lol-

Happy New Year Bro :)

The Very Best to You and Yours!!

Always,

RP

Players that use the term "I'd rock it"....The most commonly heard statement from kids learns the game. ;-)
