What were you expecting? It's a pretty faithful recreation of the most famous AJ9 colorway.

I just wear the Jordan’s I think look cool now. I have zero connection to the retro aspect as I never watched MJ play. Lots of diff people wear Jordan’s and not everyone is a die hard that knows every model 🤷‍♀️

Ultimately, wear what you like.  Who cares what people think.

 

But... here's my 2 cents.  I'm skipping them and disappointed they even chose this silhouette.  Maybe I'm just an old sneakerhead, but there's no attachment to this shoe with me.  They are outside my top 10 of the 14 Jordan retros.  Jordan never wore them in an NBA game (he did wear a cleat version while playing baseball... and if you count practicing in them in Space Jam).  There's nothing special about this shoe and it doesn't stand out like other retro Jordans.  Due to the low popularity when they released, they are the least retroed Jordan with the least number of CWs.  The Jordan 2 used to have this title, but for whatever reason Jordan brand has been releasing new CWs of the Jordan 2 constantly for the past 2 years. 

 

It's not a bad looking shoe. I will say they are one of the few retro Jordans that look decent as a low cut. But they just look like another pair of Team Jordans.  Not something I would want to pay a premium price tag for.

Agreed. I hope it isn't the pat perez PE sole - he has had some many different soles compared to the ones offered at retail.

Pat Perez is a big fan of the Free sole, he's had them on quite a few pairs of Jordan PE's.  The 9's in his post don't have that sole, supposedly the ones in the pics are identical to what is coming to retail.

To each his own, though.  I think the Free sole is still the best Nike has done.

I agree - I love the free sole. I have a pair of the older 9s in the baron colorway with the free sole. I was excited for the 6s but thought that sole was trash (granted I never bought them, but it just looked clunky and cheap to my eye). The sole of this new 9 looks super intriguing.

A friend of mine who works for them said there is a grey color way coming as well as a few special editions.

The sole they have put on the last few releases like the 6's, 5's, 4's and 12's are more cosmetically faithful to the basketball shoe but IMO don't perform nearly as well for golf or comfort as the Free sole.  I can walk all day in the Free but all these recent models are cart only for me.

I liked the 11’s. Looked faithful but also seemed comfy. I don’t own them so can’t say for sure, but that was my general sense. The 6’s I loved the look of, but I didn’t pull the trigger after trying them on. Just too awkward on the foot for anything other than cart golf.

The React sole on the 11's is pretty good too.  Good call.
