Do you consider all Pars through 9 holes boring?

Recommended Posts

So, my first 9 hole round of the year, I shot all pars for an even 35. I was basically going "Fairway, Green, 2-putt" or "Green, 2-putt" on par 3's all the way until the 9th hole when I shanked my wedge shot into the green-side bunker. No problem, just pop the bunker shot to about a couple feet from the hole. I made the putt for par for the E in 9 holes.

Not sure whether the round was considered fun, because it's a very good score for my first time out of 2016, or boring because I only made pars that round.

What do you think?

I agree that boring golf is good golf. I also agree that it's frustrating to hit a lot of greens and not drop a single putt for birdie. One of my best rounds is also my most frustrating round of my life.

10/14 Fairways

15/18 Greens

33 putts

18 straight pars

Hit a ton of greens but nothing particularly close to the hole.

I'd take boring golf every day of my life though.

That's basically how my 9 hole round was:

7/7 Faiways

8/9 Greens

17 putts

Yep, boring, boring, boring.

So boring that I'd do a leprechaun happy dance on the 9th green.

But then, I'm not a 2.3 HDC.

Solid passive-brag thread here. :D

90% of the folks on this site have never shot even par for 9, and would probably be doing backflips over your boring round. I've shot even par for 9, but never 18, and I'm still super excited when it happens regardless of how "boring" it might be.

With a 2.3 index I'm guessing this isn't the OP's first or last time shooting even for 9 or 18.

I would love the score BUT I would be mad I didn't drop any putts or that I wasn't hitting it close enough to make any birdies/eagles.

I have only ever had a bogey free card one time and it was 15 pars and 3 birdies for a 69 (-3). That round was so much fun

Depends if par is not your regular game. If pars are considered "boring" then aim for birdies. For myself, pars on some difficult holes are worth just as much as a birdie on an easier hole.

Personally, I think I'd be frustrated to hit that many greens and not drop a single birdie

Erase those thoughts from your mind and cross that bridge when ya get to it :)

I hope all's well with your game and school!!

I think that you're off to a hell of a start!!

You "only" made pars, lmao?

Bro, as a -2.3, that should be anything but, lol~

As I don't believe in "passive" or "humble" brag cuz if ya did it, you're just stating fact so Very Nicely Played :)

The better question is do YOU consider 9 consecutive pars boring?

Continued success :)

At this time, not really boring where it was my 1st nine. If it was mid-season, then it might be a little boring and a little frustrating at the same time.

I really cared less at the time, I was just relaxing on a warm day out for a March day in New England. Maybe I should care less more often and take it smooth and easy at the course.

I'm pretty sure if you shot even par everyday on the tour in every round with ALL pars you would make over 1 million dollars for the year.

Bogey free/stress free is what you should strive for. Putts will drop eventually.

I once played in a tournament and made all pars on the front nine and thought the same thing until I bogeyed 10. I would have taken the par and been happy.

I did something like that for nine holes like 4 years ago. Hit 9/9 greens two under GIR 20 putts all pars on the back side. It was at zones for high school, ended low guy but our team lost by a shot. One of the more frustrating 9s I've played.
