Do you consider all Pars through 9 holes boring?

It might make the golf round a little boring, but puts me in a better mood to socialize and have a good time with my buddies on the course. I do love the satifaction of a scramble par or hitting a good or great shot from a challenging situation.

I'd seen this post before but never getting near par I just sighed....until a couple days ago...

Shot a one-over 37....crazy thing is that I bogied the par fives...but was saved by two birds.....

I can now say that all pars is my next goal...oh to be so bored....

I posted this earlier in the thread, but i'll post again because i just shot a 72 on Tuesday and it made me think of this thread. Front 9 was 9 straight pars and the back was 2 birdies and 2 bogeys

 

But the front 9 was kind of all over the place. On the 1st hole i got up and down from over the green with a very nice chip. On the 2nd hole (a par 5) i had to chip out laterally and then hit 3 wood into the green, 4th hole was an up and down, 5th hole was a sand save. And then 6,7,8,9 were GIR's

 

But still 1-5 was an adventure and i still shot a 36 with 9 pars

 

Golf is rarely boring

 

We're different... Now, I am not often in the junk, left without a shot. I see even par fronts or backs rather often and to me, they are the result of what seems to be a internal comfort with the day. Nothing out of the ordinary happens, therefore I call them almost boring. Course, I keep golf in perspective to other events in my life that really can get one anxious. Even friends call my even par fronts or back or 72/73 boring, compared to their game. To me, golf is exhilarating when the swing is off, taking the ball to crazy places, and or judgment is off, choosing the wrong solution.

For the first time ever, I had 18 pars yesterday. Lol. Rather frustrating actually. I was 5 for 5 scrambling, sinking a number of mid-range putts to save par. However, I had a number of birdie putts of roughly the same length, and didn't make one. Grrr. I have to believe that I was a bit tentative on the birdie putts, trying not to run them too far past the hole and risk a 3 putt bogie. The par saves were struck more aggressively. Lesson learned.

Pars on any day is a good day for me. Losing less than 3 balls on 9 holes is also a good day for me

Personally, I think I'd be frustrated to hit that many greens and not drop a single birdie

Not at all. Ball striking and short game have to be sharp for me to do this. I usually am around 2-4 over per 9 holes, but 9 straight pars shows consistency IMO.

I was basically going "Fairway, Green, 2-putt" or "Green, 2-putt" on par 3's all the way until the 9th hole when I shanked my wedge shot into the green-side bunker. No problem, just pop the bunker shot to about a couple feet from the hole. I made the putt for par for the E in 9 holes.

 

Not sure whether the round was considered fun, because it's a very good score for my first time out of 2016, or boring because I only made pars that round.

I guess it depends on how good you are to start off, but I have had a couple of rounds recently that were pretty dramatic (for me anyway) that involved a s***-ton of pars.

 

I've gone 9 straight pars while only hitting 1/7 fairways and 1/2 par 3 greens. On those 7 regular holes I maybe hit 2 greens. I also played adjoining fairways on a few holes and had some crazy approaches over/around big trees. Someone in the group asked me if I ever just get regular old fashioned pars. :lol:

 

So yeah, scrambling, getting up and down from sick places, making several 10-12 footers for par... it can be pretty exciting.

 

Though to be honest, I'd be perfectly fine with hitting all the fairways and all the GIR too. ha ha

I would love that round. I think some people can play like that and others are scramblers. Years ago I was scratch and some of my under par rounds were wild. I would double... Then eagle... Hit a ball into the trees... Punch out... Chip in... It was exhausting. My buddy played on the mni tour and he's driver 265, iron to the green, two putt or one putt all day.. No matter what course he's on. I would take his game and all pars

When this thread first showed up I really couldn't remember if I had ever done it or not.

 

Well this afternoon I did. Eight GIR's (the one miss wa about a foot off). Six of them left very make able birdie putts.

 

I don't consider it boring because I'm happy with how I hit it today, but can't help but think it sure would have been nice to be three or four under.

 

Content but frustrated? But not bored.
