I have been wearing an ivy cap for 15+ years in cold weather, mostly for function, and it gets worn on the course from time to time. I like the tweed or wool style ivy caps quite a bit....not sure what they are supposed to be called, but thats what i have always referred to them as. The kangol styke just doesnt do it for me, even though they have the same form, they just dont look as good as the tweed or wool style ivy caps....whuch arent too practical when its warm out.

Same here, I have a few wool ones for winter golf. Too hot in the summer though and I like the full bill of a ball cap in the sun.

H*** yes! Have been wearing them for several years and in various colors. I would add Gardner Dickinson to the list. Wasn't paying much attention to Bryson's cap, but believe it was a Kangol Tropic 504 Ventair. (And different than a Newsboy, which is floppier and typically with a button on the crown).

It's the new/old hipster fedora. Check out the website. All 20 sometin's rock'in the look. Either straight or Samuel L style, both work. Unlike a baseball cap backwards that looks douchy. So be square and continue wearing your brand logo'ed golf hats, just like thousands of others. I'll continue making a fashion statement that sez, "I'm walking to my own beat".

 

And before anyone gets their panties in a bunch, there is a certain amount of satire involved with this post. Really don't give a s*** what hat one decides to wear.

As have I with three in the rotation. I for one don't feel like being a walking billboard, but for the masses that seems to be the uniform de jour.

 

When the weather gets hot, I break out the straw fedoras; not the tacky logo'ed wide brimmed ones, but a proper Panama hat. These types of things suit my preferences for things from bygone eras when style actually was stylish.

The worst thing is I have been wearing them for over a decade(got several from the now defunct Cool Golf Caps) and people will now think I'm trying to copy Dechambeau. Even the OP of tis thread starts with the assumption no one was wearing them up to this point

I wouldn't personally, it's my style, I have a huge head and can't imagine it looking very good plus it just doesn't really fit my style. Wouldn't hate on someone for wanting to wear it though.

It can be hard to find a baseball cap that doesn't make you look like a walking advertisement, and the blank caps you see are mostly cheap and funny looking.

 

Flat caps make it easy to go with a blank hat, except for on the back sometimes.

It's funny how a 'hat' cause so much of a stir, it's just a hat. I guess how we dress makes a statement about our personalities, which this style of hat must do. If you think about it, regular golf hats aren't that dressy, which sort of contradicts the thought of golf being a higher society type game, or gentleman's game. The tam style is a little more dressy, and I wear one during the winter months when I dress up for occasions, but have never worn one for golf. I think they look nice, but I probably like the regular golf hats better, lol.

In US maybe not. In Europe it is quite popular, except on golf course where most of the people seem to wear advertisement hats.

 

I wear a proper cap almost everyday, outside.

I would and have. But I personally prefer a shorter brimmed straw hat like Sam Snead or a young Chi Chi Rodriguez myself.
