Good read. Old info but very well written. He is a polarizing figure in golf and has changed the game for the better regardless of his off the course antics.

 

Once again, he's a Pro Golfer, not a preacher or Saint. His personal life is his business. Unfortunately, we live in a time where everyone has their dirty laundry aired out for the public eye to see. There are MANY things that have transpired in the past with all sorts of public figures/athletes that were never heard of because of the difference in era's.

 

Humans are still humans, we are just have a role in the Truman Show now.

Yet he seems like a great Dad which seems to be the polar opposite of his tipping/cheapness issues. Point is he is complicated, different and strange even. Which is not surprising. Take a look at many of the six sigma individuals throughout history and you find that most are extremely complicated and often outright strange (Nash, Turing,Einstein,Fischer, the list goes on). That seems to go with the territory in many case. That doesn't condone any of Tiger's bad behavior, but it may partially explain it.

He should have. My bet is that he really wanted to be their friend, be one of them. When you go to lunch with friends, or people who you view on the same level, you share the tab. He spends his whole life with people expecting him to pick up the tab. Sad really.

Well, I'm not sure this was any "secret" history. But it was nice to read a well-written, well-researched, journalistic article that not only told a story, but it also let the reader draw their own conclusions instead of hand-holding and spoon feeding. I went in thinking it was going to be another sensationalist hack job, but ended up enjoying reading it.

 

By presenting a well-laid out timeline, the article provided some context I felt like I might have missed previously by getting the information piecemeal over a long period of time. After I finished reading, I felt I had a better understanding of where Tiger was coming from. I had a little more sympathy for his circumstances (maybe some of his faults were forced upon him by the environment created around him by others), but also a little disdain (dude, come on - you know right from wrong. man up and be the better person.)

 

I recommend reading it.

If you read Haney's book, and the other recent pieces about Tiger, the theme that runs throughout is his lack of close personal relationships. He's a loner by nature I suppose. That's the great thing about children, especially when they are young, they love you no matter what. I am not surprised Tiger is finding something in his relationships with his children that he only had with Earl. Strange life...the price of genius maybe.... He's still young life wise. It would be a shame if he were to turn into a hermit for the rest of his days. I would tell him to try to embrace life, open up to it and take whatever journey he wants.

Man...I don't say much on here and haven't been a member long but you (BSGolf53) have some serious issues with some of the most benign things. If you have a problem with Tiger and his history that is your own prerogative. I think what I find interesting about you is that it is hard to determine if you are a troll or if you just have some serious built up rage issues. You attack Bernhard and call him a cheat and basically say he is doing it on purpose when you clearly don't know the man as his peers and people alike have talked about how he would be the last person on earth who would cheat. He is the exact opposite of the person you are portraying him to be. With Tiger I think the it's interesting that what I think we are seeing is the ultimate Karma for someone who lived a life that was not morally sound. He seems truly remorseful for his actions and I'm sure would love to have a chance to redo it and do it right. So what is it that drives you to make accusations? is it just to see your name and have people argue with you? Is it to be the constant devils advocate? I don't expect you to respond and if you do I am sure it will be in a confrontational way but I am asking why you seem to want to attack people so fervently. I hope you find peace someday
