Tiger Rinsing 3 Balls @ Quicken Loans Ceremony

It was cold and he had zero warm up, and was probably taking it easy on the back. He's not going to hit three balls in the water just for the hell of it. Why does everything have to be a conspiracy? Lol. He said himself in an interview afterwards that he can't just show up with no warm up and hit shots anymore. There is no conspiracy, he just didn't swing hard enough three times in a row.

"I'm still trying to get stronger. I'm trying to get more pliable," he said Monday at Congressional Country Club for Quicken Loans National media day. "I'm hitting the ball better. Everything about my game is coming around. Now it's just a matter of being consistent with it."

Three balls in the water seems pretty consistent to me.

The first swing almost looked like he was trying to hit it in the water. It looked like a pitch shot.

My guess is it was some sort of charity closest to the pin against Tiger contest.. does anyone believe he's going to warm up and try to stick one to 2 inches against some wounded warriors? He was obviously hitting it in the water on purpose.

Again, if he hits one in the water, no big deal, no coverage. Why do three in a row? He could just as easily have blocked one over to the right side of that massive green and let his group win the challenge.

Considering all the hype the TW camp has been spinning the past month about a Memorial return and U.S. Open registration... your hypothesis runs completely counter to that direction.

Um... did you notice the guy with the mic? He just happened to have another ball in hand when Tiger said asked "can I hit another please?".. then, he gets tossed another ball before Tiger hits the third? Yeah.. no way this was planned. Wow, there are some gullible people out there.

Good point.

Have you also considered the fact that they have a ton of balls on hand because numerous high-handicappers who aren't used to playing in front of crowds and cameras may possibly hit it into the huge water hazard spanning the entire distance from tee to green? And the announcer doesn't want to hold onto more than a couple at a time because he's not an MLB umpire?

Look, Tiger is obviously stiff and probably didn't warm up; this isn't a competitive round for him. I also understand that golf is hard, even for the (currently) 524th ranked player in the world.

You're in a hole... you should stop digging.

The interview sounded like typical Tiger excuses again. Did he actually blame his sweater?

Fact of the matter, he was obviously in pain/ feeling some discomfort after 3 3/4 wedge shots

"He did it on purpose!"

Lol. At least Jim Jones put sugar in the kool-aid he served up. The crap some of you are Drinking is so very bitter.

I think wanting someone to do badly would be bitterness, I'm not sure hoping someone does well is bitterness too.

Tiger fans might be clutching at straws with their optimism though (me included).

I can see it now from new member Wiger Toods.

"Hi, I'm a new member and a first-time poster who is just getting back into the game after dealing with some serious back injuries. Over the past couple of years, I've had several surgeries and am just starting to get healthy. I used to be a really good player with a plus handicap and my game traveled well. I went out today to hit a few shots with my wedges and could barely hit the ball 100 yards.

Does anyone have any shaft recommendations to help or is it time to consider game improvement clubs?"

Wiger Toods is already a member! :)

That looks like the swing of a guy who's afraid to swing hard at the ball.

...and a guy that can't.

The fact anyone is taking this serious is hilarious!!bits pretty obvious he was goofing around playing to the crowd. If you truly believe he couldn't knock one of those balls on the green if he was trying, I have some wonderful business ventures I'd like to discuss with you.

Really? I'm pretty sure 95% of golfers in the world could "goof around" and still hit the green in three tries from 100 yards. Best golfer in the world should be able to hit it with his eye's closed.

I'm not here to bash Tiger... was actually excited to see him hit live and hoping for something positive. Quite the contrary

Russell Knox shanked a pitching wedge on Saturday. A pitching wedge.

Its a f'in joke that this stuff is even being discussed, let alone being taken seriously.

People thinking he did this on purpose crack me up.

He asked for a 2nd ball because he was unhappy with the first. Then after dunking #2, he didn't seem to want any part of a 3rd. After dunking that, he was done.

It doesn't mean he can't play golf ever again, but it was certainly awkward and not easy to watch.

If he had hit it stiff, the people saying this doesn't matter would be the first posting videos of how fluid his swing looked.

I'll believe it when Gatoradedave confirms.

Heres my take. Give me 3 shots and I will put at least one on the green. So am I better than Tiger Woods now? Hell no. Dude hit the ball short. Didnt duff, shank, or skull it. Just didn't hit it hard enough or didn't have the correct club. Seemed like all 3 were pretty close to each other so what's the big deal since it's a wedge?
