It was unwatchable with all the screaming.

They were excited. :)

It was actually some of the best golf I'd seen in quite some time. I was on the edge of my seat and the way it ended was classic.

Okay, I was watching the matches today on the golf channel as well as watching last year, and I noticed that these girls will yell and scream after a winning putt, okay I get it you're excited that doesn't bother me. Now what is a little weird to me is when the entire team runs onto the green after a match is finished and they are screaming, yelling, celebrating, but the issue is they are doing all this after a girl was just beat by you and you are basically celebrating in her face. Now I could just be being a picky guy and what not, I just find it a little tough to watch these teams get so excited right there on the green while there is a female from the opposing team almost in tears 5 feet from you.

Am I in the minority here or does anyone else agree, or see where I'm coming from?

And hate watching them use push carts

The carts are here to stay. D1 men use them, many high school players are starting to use them. If they can save you even a stroke or two over several rounds of competition, they're an advantage. As a coach (and player), I have zero problems with this.

The Stanford men's team started using them after research showed that physically, pushing a cart is much better for a golfer than carrying a golf bag. Other teams seem to be catching on.

One of my golf buddies is a chiropractor and he said that the compression on the spine by carrying a bag, coupled with the violent rotation of a golf swing, is a recipe for a back trouble... We all use push carts now - Doctor's orders! ;-)

Totally agree. If you weren't entertained by that golf, then you're going to have a hard time being entertained by any golf. It was that good.

He's a troll that complains in nearly every post and told Matt Hansen (a Web.com Tour player/WRXer who is generous enough to share his experiences of chasing the PGA Tour this season in another thread) that he should give up on his dreams because it's not worth it. Add him to your block list and be better off!

Ridderstrom got lucky to hit the flag on 17(? I believe) That hole was a lucky break. I just believe wins should be applauded. I hate the way the world has turned in every kid gets a trophy for participation. Breeds entitlement. I hate my kid got a trophy for soccer when they didn't keep score at any games. Every trophy or medal I have ever gotten, I have earned. And when I won, I celebrated. Not to rub it in, because my hard work paid off. I wanted to win more than my opponent and put in the hours of practice to get there. I'm overly competitve to a fault sometimes. But I will never fault someone for celebrating my hard work. I never got upset that someone else celebrated a championship when I was on the losing end. I congratulate and walk away knowing I gave it my all and just wasn't good enough on that day.

The Wa. Gal made her putt for 4 on 17 so the flag stick shot did not matter.

Man, it drives me nuts that we continue to move toward a society where we can't celebrate victory. In anything. Because we might "offend" someone or make someone mad.

These kids arent 6 year olds receiving t-ball participation trophies. These are college kids playing a game they are attending school on scholarship for, and winning an NCAA title carries with it major prestige...even gets a few kids into professional tournaments. They shake hands/hug at the end, and then celebrate winning. There's nothing wrong with that.

In sports, there are winners and losers. If you can't handle losing, you shouldnt play.

I never said anything about offending someone, you quoted it like I did. I said I felt bad for someone who is in tears. There is a time and a place for celebration like in this years matches Washington waited until after the handshake to celebrate which was classy, last year as soon as the girl missed the putt screaming and cheering ensued and I just thought it was over the top. This thread was also made before the final yesterday and was in reference to last year mainly.

Just trying to learn how to putt.

Not that it matters much but I didn't see any "sportsmanship"/tact issues with the celebration/s that ensued following stellar collegiate golf competition. For the second straight year, the Women's NCAA D1 champs were garnered in clutch, last moment, warrior-styled fashion. Those young golfers worked way more than hard to get to that moment and to seal the deal after years of development...I'd say there is no celebration that could adequately translate that feeling. Good for them.

I love golf

Yea you're definitely in the minority and quite honestly, come off sounding like a bit of an a**.

They're college kids competing in the biggest tournament of their lives. God forbid they get excited when they win.

The OP did admit pretty quickly he was probably wrong. It is fully over aggressive to call him an a**
