Looking at those delicious MacGregor keyhole woods has me hankering to throw together a Sunday bag with a half set of Golden Ram blades and PowerBilt Citations, a couple of sleeves of ball and a handful of short tees to try a little vintage golf for my birthday.  😎⛳🏌️‍♂️

Why would you need a whole sleeve of balls? Just take one ball and hit in the fairway. You could land a plane on most fairways.

The golf must be riveting keeping all Grillers away, unfortunately it did not stop me gardening and completing my designated household chores. It must have been heart breaking for the poor man being stopped when he was almost certain to win, its not only the prestige but the 1 1/2 million prize money must hurt. The good news for him, there is always the next time.😜

Rain off and on here today so I watched the US Women's Open. It's June 2021; the PGA Tour

should have dropped their Covid Protocol months ago. I totally disagree with all the talking 

heads. I'm not a fan of Jon Rahm but what they did to him was unconscionable and there is

simply no excuse for it IMO. Look at the fans. They are not social distancing. Who even cares

about social distancing anymore? Are they saying Jon Rahm was a danger to someone? Who??

He is asymptomatic. The PGA Tour PTB are asleep at the switch.

It makes news and draws more attention to the tournament which is what the sponsors want, the pain of the individual does not matter in their greater scheme of things. Made good TV.🤮

Runaway winners are not good for the sponsors, a tightly contested finish is much better for them.

Yep true-- I bet if Rahm had played the last round with that lead the views would have been down on TV. I was watching live when the officials let him know. As soon as they released a " statement" I called BS on the whole deal. Never watched yesterday-- The Champions was on and I was pulling hard for old Lumpy Herron anyhow. Watched it and then watched the Ladies US Open. I will say toungue in cheek Lexi and Lumpy flat blew it in the last rounds.

So you're fully vaccinated and you test positive forcing a withdrawal and then a quarantine for two weeks.  This isn't exactly the best way to promote more widespread adoption of vaccinations.  Doesn't looks like it makes any difference then and they're just using it as a barrier to entry.

 

FWIW, I am vaccinated and believe that we all should get it in order to put this pandemic behind us, but I must say that authorities are supplying lots of fodder for the anti-vaxer crowd.

Rahm and his family were not vaccinated.

 

He signed the agreement to the protocols and contact tracing as someone unvaccinated.

 

He was in close contact to someone infected and he became infected. The tour protocol was to prevent the spread to other non-vaccinated people, including fans, other players in the locker rooms, tour staff, course staff, food and beverage staff, close quarters in the press room and during interviews, etc.

 

If you choose to not be vaccinated, that's your choice. Your choice; your risk.

 

Even though he says he has no symptoms, he is still infectious and can transmit it to others, who may develop symptoms, perhaps severe symptoms.

 

300-400 people are still dying in US hospitals every day. They're unvaccinated and catch it and die from other unvaccinated people and about 40% of them have no symptoms.

Lerner was invited to give a talk to a private club in the northeast that a friend of mine attended. He said Lerner was boring and bland. A milquetoast who just named dropped all evening with nothing interesting to say.

I guess I've learned not to assume anything anymore.  The policy of different professional sports organizations apparently isn't uniform with respect to vaccinations and qualifying to participate in the sport.

 

In light of this information I have no beef with requiring his withdrawal from the tournament upon testing positive.  You make your choice and you take your chances.

FWIW I had a good day on the golf course today.  It was hot though.  Glad that there was a cooling breeze.  Pace of play was slow, but I didn't seem to notice or mind much.

So today is turning into a much enjoyed day off from golf. I've played 4 rounds in the past 4 days (2 days off which I was also worked 9 hour days). Today is a rest day before another county scratch league match tomorrow night. 

 

My game seems to be in flux at the moment. I'm either hitting it great and not making a putt to save my life or can't miss a putt but not seeing any short grass from tee to green. 

 

Wifeys game has turned a corner. We played a 2 man Texas scramble on Sunday (a favorite event of the year in the club) and wifey and I shot 69 gross with a combined handicap of 3,8 to total 65.2. Only restriction is that you have to use 6 drives minimum each. I still haven't stopped hearing about how on 14 I topped my driver into the pond in front of the tee and she "saved" the round by splitting the fairway with her 190 yards drive.  I'm too happy for her to remind her of the 2 nr 3 foot putts she missed that I had to hole to save par.

So recently I've really dived into the theory that there is no one swing for everyone and that our bodies have a preferred most efficient method built around our anatomical structure. While this all sounds very technical in reality it is quite the opposite. The idea is that you undertake some basic tests and measurements to determine your bodies preferred and ideal motions. 

 

The theories I have been following are basis for Top 100 instructors Mike Adams teachings. He has many disciples and an incredible track record of producing good solid golfers. 

 

I've attached a PDF of the test and am curios to see if your test results match what you do during your swing.

I traveled the world with Mike doing presentations to pros in China, Korea, Australia, New Zealand, The Philippines, etc. over the past few years. Let's just say that I know MIke and it very well...

 

Mike is #2 in the world, right behind Butch Harmon in all of the rankings.

 

The tests have been a work in progress for a long time and have been updated as more is learned. One of the great things about Mike is his ability to accept and adapt when facts are better known and measurements confirm new understandings.

Interesting, Accordingly I test out as a glider. I'm 70 inches tall with a wingspan of nearly 72

inches. I meet the other criteria as well. One thing I have learned about my own swing over the

years is I have a very real and very nasty propensity to hit fat shots if I get too far onto my

lead side coming into impact. My hands need to be past their low point and on the way back 

up at impact. I can only do this by staying low and back behind the ball; pressuring my lead

foot. My other miss comes from not getting off my trail foot and hitting weak push fades.

 

I tried being more rotational many years ago and it worked until my lower back began to really

hurt and I ended up in a mess of my own creation with a stiff body and a flat shoulder turn

and hitting the ball all over the planet. I went several years, up until I retired in a few years

ago, playing only once or twice a year. It just wasn't fun and I was on the road most of the

time anyway.

 

When I decided to start playing more again I wanted to make my swing more upright and

more body friendly. I guess now I would say I'm a glider playing somewhat like a launcher.

My goal is to "feel" low at impact; which sounds counterintuitive for a guy with longish

arms, and I have fought EE tendencies at times, so I counter that by trying to go even 

lower when the body wants to rise early. It still amazes me that going lower moves the

swing bottom forward and rising up early moves it back.

 

BTW, on this 3 types idea; Larry Rinker got an idea from a scientist David Wright who

divides golfer types into upper, mid and lower core swingers. I read all about this several

years ago and posted a few videos here for comment by fellow Grillesters.  Not much

interest in talking about it and it just floated on down the river, lol.
