I saw on the National News this AM that Niagra Falls NY has declared a "state of emergency" due to the influx of tourists coming into town to see this eclipse. I guess under NY law it gives the authorities the right to get extra help like the National Guard or LEOs from other jurisdictions

Thanks I just looked, it’s actually on the Canadian side that they declared the emergency.

I have an old cart.  Not sure how old, but bought it for $1800 used and paid $900 for the cover and the club cover.  It really does expand the golf season.  I have the old batteries in mine, and thought about converting to the Li Ion when it comes time to replace them again, but I bet I just get a new cart.  The conversion is pretty pricy for a cart worth $0 at this point.  I think I bought it 11 years ago, and have had to change out the batteries a couple of times.

 

Did you get the speakers in the floor boards, the charging stations in the dash, and the horn and headlights?  There is one cart maker, I can't remember their name, but they are like $25,000 and are like a car.  That's a no thank you, though the fridge would get a lot of play if it were my cart.

 

Edit: Garia is the cart manufacturer I was thinking of.

We sure do. The purpose of this state of emergency is to deploy extra emergency staff which is probably warranted and hopefully scare some folks from coming. Niagara Falls is the ultimate tourist trap and they are expecting over a million tourists paying ridiculous rates for accommodation. You won’t be able to move on the roads.

 

I think anyone going there on Monday is crazy.

No speakers but lights and turn signals and usb port. I think it is an 
EZGO frame modified by MadJax. It was a 4 seater that I had them convert. Took off the back seat and put on a shorter roof. I think they sell to resorts and retirement community people. My only gripe is no score card holder. Here in the LC Valley we can play almost all year and the enclosed and heated cart makes that doable. Home course is steep and hard to walk.

What if you know somebody with a 26hp diesel lawnmower?  Asking for a friend.  🤣.  72 inch deck.  Air ride seat.  Runs about 39 mph.    Allegedly…….

Niagara Falls is a gong show at the best of times, the eclipse is ramping it up to a new level. It will likely be gridlocked with cars and buses. They are warning people to make sure they have food and fuel since getting into a restaurant will be impossible and gas stations are likely to run out. The population of Niagara Falls is around 85,000, adding a million will tax everything.

Just watched some coverage of the Texas Open.  I don't know how it works in other places but in my area ESPN2 has Feature group coverage most of the day.   Apparently they don't have the commercial slots all sold, so they are constantly running a promotional loop for themselves, ESPN.  It's just a montage of sporty stuff that probably runs about 30 seconds.  Often they will run this numerous times back to back.  It can get a bit unnerving.  

   I was wondering why they don't run PSA's during these times instead and take the value of the air time as a charitable contribution. Don't know if that is legal, feasible or even possible, but I would rather watch anything but that loop again and again.

   Other thought is how far these announcers are up Rory's rectum.  I like the guy too, but give it a break.  He pulls the wrong club on an approach shot and flies the green by ten yards and these guys are spewing some BS about how powerful he is and how hard it is to hit that shot when you're so powerful.   C'mon, man!

Only been there once but I can see what you're saying.   Had a strange experience walking to the restaurant for breakfast.  A very attractive woman in a street level room not far from the sidewalk was dressing right in front of her window.  And she was starting from scratch, if you know what I mean.  Luckily, the wife didn't see it. So, the Falls itself, will always be second on my list of memories from the day.

One time these guys started a  scrap with us like two blocks from this club with cops right there! But they didnt even really want to fight, us either for that matter, we all dressed up for club! 🤣

 

So, me and this guy are sorta boxing around and of course the cops come over. I immediately stop and put my hands up and out to the sides palms open. One of the other guys starts getting loud with the cops. Very bad move..

played dreadful yesterday. didn’t make any money! it happens.

 

my back is like a katana edge. good or bad. had a great time though.

 

nothing better than play golf with fun guys who give each other some good-natured grief once in awhile. one guy i play with is a good stick, but was going left all day with his drives.

 

he says, ok pro, fix me. gave him one feel and we talked about it. he got it.

 

next hole was a short, but really dangerous, par 4. almost everyone lays up with an iron. had him hit driver with the feel and he smoked it dead online, 10’ from the pin. made a 2!
 

hit the longest, straightest drive i’ve ever seen him hit on next par 5 and last hole.

 

it was great to see the smile on his face.

Yeah there is a bunch on our local media here I would love to do that to.

Had a run in with one of those idiots in Home Depot a couple of Springs back.

The wife and I were in the garden center. We were looking at some plants and I said something about one. Now my wife (in a good way) can get me started. I was saying something about a plant and my wife said she did not know I was a Botanist. I told her well I could read because I did not go to school in SC. Everyone in earshot laughed. That gal from the TV station flew around the corner and said she went to school in SC and she had written several articles and worked for a local TV station. I told her good for her that I went to school in NC and had written several articles for Circle Track magazine and other racing publications plus several local golf publications. I further told her I was retired and did not do squat except go to church and play golf. People were really laughing now. She retreated red faced rather quickly.

And yes I wrote some and as Solly would imagine I give final editors fits with my grammar and the way I put stuff together writing

Week 1 of freestyle wrestling season about to be  in the books. I love freestyle, good thing, since my son likes it so much. We have four tournaments he’ll enter in PA. Then a qualifier in Atlantic City 👎🏼 we will see about that, followed by the PA state tournament and then Fargo.

 

Yep, Atlantic City NJ and Fargo ND. Ouch. Fargo is unlikely but we will see how he does in the two qualifying events.
