Yes, some care must be taken to plan

But it certainly costs nothing and actually saves money to not buy soda, chips, cookies, and all that other packaged processed food

That’s the first step. Eliminate it from the house. Then you can figure it out.

Heres an example. I used to buy Popcorners. Theyre actually not even unhealthy, especially compared to potato chips, but the problem was..

I buy a bag with the intention of eating half the bag, but then the whole thing! 🤣

So, I’m like, I’m not only eating double the calories that I planned for, but I am spending like $120 a month on popcorners!! 🤣

The solution? I now buy those 4” white corn tortillas. I bake 4 in the Breville with just a little olive oil. Then they come out crisp like chips but with NO Salt.

Now I’m in control of the exact portion that I’m eating and it’s 50 cents! Boom just saved 100/month 😬

That is like me before I went on my diet. On golf mornings I would either go to the Waffle House or go to the Circle K and get 2 of those microwave cheeseburgers which I love BTW. I now go to Kroger and get cut up Cantaloupe or watermelon if I do not have any cut up at home. I also eat those 100 calorie fruit and grain bars. Sometimes I carry one of those plastic jars with unsalted peanuts. I also do not eat my customary 2 hot dogs post round either. I have dropped almost 20 lbs in 6 weeks not starving myself. This morning I played 9 holes real early. I only ate one 100 calorie bar. Stopped by the local produce stand and got a local cantaloupe. Fixed it up and had breakfast with that blueberries, strawberries, apple and Kerrygold cheese for protein. Right now I am fine and typing on here and watching the US Senior Open. We will have local fresh Scallops and local corn on the cob for supper tonight. My health has drastically improved

Way more plants, way less animal, and nothing prepackaged. That’s the way. I’m both privileged and grateful that we can do that with $$, time, and access.

I’d like to know the size of the US population who has access to shop for food at Wal Mart 🤢 or Dollar General 🤢🤢 and no other realistic options. Makes it hard to eat right when that’s your access. 🙁

I am retired as a trucker and really did not run the road per say the last 30 years. Now from some of my trucking feeds it seems the old style Mom and Pop truck stops with home cooking are all but about gone. Most of the national chain truck stops have replaced their kitchens with fast food, Yeah no wonder you have truck drivers with coronary and weight issues in their 30s and 40s. I mean we used to eat but it was wholesome good homestyle food

A sad state of affairs when someone doing that job has nothing available en route other than fast food. Maybe a driver could bring some meals with some prep and planning, but my guess is schedules get weird and that’s often not possible. I know when I stop along the PA turnpike for a coffee there is not one thing available to eat that I’d put in my body.

Chicken thighs are so good. Gotta buy the ones where the chickens aren’t pumped full of chemicals and hormones though!

The missus is Filipina — her chicken adobo, the sticky kind, made with chicken thighs and served over rice cooked with coconut milk is the 💣. It’s not very healthy but the portion shouldn’t be huge….. yeah, right, it’s so damn good I can’t stop! 😁

Sugar in meat. That says it all. 🤬

Is there a difference between spending 3.00 vs 3.25 for a bottle of sugar water?

The real psychology/physiology the snack makers are leveraging is that of the altered taste profiles of the nation.

A person who primarily craves salt and sugar (over say….a vegetable 🤣) is not going to care if he pays .10 cents more for for a fix

Look at this, isn’t it mind boggling? And none of it with any nutritional value, if fact, quite destructive….

The pictures of junk food in your post reminded me of how strict Zdeno Chara’s diet was.  He was a beast, he could do 35-40 pull-ups at 6’9, 260 pounds.  He ate steamed vegetables with no sauce or anything, plain baked potatoes as a carb, and lean rabbit meat.

I don’t eat rabbit but when I’m in the mood to eat healthier, I’ll do the steamed vegetables and potato without butter or bacon or anything.

Yep, a guy could live on rice and beans and tortillas with some peppers to spice it up. Speaking of fish. My lil bro was at his SOL's place in Alaska last week. He does this for a living along with diving for Geoducks.

Filipino adobo chicken is off the hook!

One of the best meals I ever had was oddly enough after a friends aunts funeral. After the service we went to his relatives house and was best food I ever had. Was adobo chicken, oxtail, these amazing thin noodles and insanely good thin crispy eggrolls!

You a lucky man! 🍻

Damn, wish that store was here. Four six packs of soda for $10.00!

That would last me almost two weeks I’d fill up the back of my pickup!

I think some guys do that with generators and inverters. I did read that some of the drivers of Indian decent actually cook curry in a crock pot while driving down the road. Of course a lot of trucks now have refrigerators so some guys stock up when at home

since mcdonald’s, burger king and processed snacks invaded japan, heart disease has shot up. the only salt usually in the diet was from soy sauce, but not now. no one puts salt on their food.

it’s scary to look at graphs of cancer over time, too. when sugar frosted mini wheats are considered a healthy diet food by the fda, things might be out of whack. the food pyramid, conceived and written by the food industry.

I will be removed from this place if I talk about the fda

Great referral for business.

But unfortunately too many friends going down with wrist and shoulder injuries and torn Achilles.

Tellin ya, I bust out some pretty dynamic multi directional hiit workouts, but it’s all “choreographed”, I know exactly what’s coming next and I warm up into tougher moves.

But I’m 100% sure you get me out on a pball court, just total random, fast sudden moves in every direction and competing for the point…

and I’ll blow out all my hammys knees quads and back 🤣

Torn Achilles from pickle ball….ouch!  Risking that injury to play something that doesn’t look much fun to begin with?  No thanks!

Too funny. I tore my meniscus playing. When getting prepped for surgery, the nurse told me more than half the patients where there with pickleball injuries.
