I can't believe we have made it this far into the thread without anyone mentioning one of the true all time one hit wonders, the Bassakwards putter. That thing was on fire back when they released it. There had never been anything like it before and it was all over the place. Then it disappeared like a hollywood starlet with herpes, and so did the company. Poof. Gone.

I think it was called the Aserta I have a cover for one somewhere in my stuff

What about the Gynti or Ginty? Something like that. It was like a pre hybrid cleek type of FW wood with a large single rail running through the bottom. I think only persimmon heads too.

I tried a couple of the different styles on a putting green at a golf store when they first came out and I came up with the same conclusion as you did. To me it was like trying to putt with a 15 pound sledge hammer

Scratch Golf and their awesome wedges. I never once heard anyone complain about the quality, workmanship, and/or feel of those. Sad that the company shut down - and the only thing people remember were those wedges.

The original Adams Tight Lies. I believe it was a 16 degree fairway wood with a 1/2" face depth. The infomercial put Adams on the map. They sold thousands of them. First range session with mine, it was beat to s*** with sky marks. Never put the POS in the bag after that.

 

The original Tight Lies was an amazing club. So easy to hit. If there was a golf club hall of fame the Tight Lies would be a worthy entry.

I occasionally put my 16* in the bag. I used to love that thing like 15 years ago.

Probably a bit early to say but my vote is PGX. Cant see them sticking around with their price point. From further back Diawa was a one trick pony with their very well received hi-trac irons.

I agree and mentioned Scratch earlier in this thread. About the only complaint I heard about them was around their customer service and delivery because they couldn't keep up with the demand. You have to give them credit. There would be no Wedge Works S,M,F grinds if it wasn't for Scratch. They were the pioneer of offering custom grinds to the general public. It's sad they couldn't stay afloat. I sell ERP software to manufacturers and distributors and see this often. They are a common story of a small company trying to grow too fast and don't have the resources to scale.
