Wasn't it someone like Rocky Thompson on the old Senior Tour who hit the snot out of the first Super Bee driver? Had at least a 48" shaft. Was the only success for Super Bee and then they were bought by Golfsmith.

Killer bee. First drivers that came standard with 46" shafts. Some were up to 48" I believe.

A couple posters mentioned the original Snake Eyes wedges. Ernie also produced the Smith & Wesson Snake Eyes irons. Talk about beautiful!!!! Way back when, there was story circulating about the sale of Snake Eyes to Golfsmith. Supposedly, a freight truck was loaded with all the left over wedges and S&W irons at Ernie's shop in Florida and shipped to Golfsmith. The story was that the truck never arrived in Texas and has never been found. Probably just an old "urban myth", but made for lots of shop talk back then.

2 pages and no alien wedge yet? Air hammer and alien are a solid tie first place, as they both encored and consequently disappeared after releasing a putter.

Spin doctor, had like sandpaper on face.

killer bee was awesome. Was there also a miracle wedge? Also wasn't there a wedge with changeable face inserts? What was that? Like you know if you want to pull the string all day, or just have it hop and stop...so many awesome adjustable spin options. Surprised SC hasn't stolen that and figured out a way to sell $400 Chinese cast billet milled stainless putters with changeable face inserts.

Btw, I owned an alien wedge...anyone that makes fun of it didn't experience the genius behind it first hand. The thing most often forgotten about with the alien due to the massive sole, is the face the club head was like a circle....which meant the club had a pointy leading edge, and 3" long of 4* of bounced sole. It was ahead of its time. Lol.

The wedge with the interchangeable faces was actually the spin doctor (and taylormade). Not to sure which was a bigger bust.

The spin doctor was the wedge that was shown backing a ball up in a parking lot.

I am actually, interested in trying one

Founders Club

Had two US Open wins with their 200 series forged blades by Janzen and Stewart. Hale Irwin used fresh metal fairways for years, Lanny Watkins, Dave Stockton were on staff with them and did well with their stuff. Bob Vokey did the defense series wedges, Clay Long worked on their "computer milled" putters, The Judge Titanium was a very successful club, etc. Company really lost its way when Gary Adams was no longer associated, so definitely more than a one hit wonder, just mismanaged potential.

My vote goes to another Gary Adams venture- McHenry Metals. The Tour Pure titanium driver was well ahead of the curve, would have loved to see how company could have grown if Gary's health had allowed, he is still greatly missed by all fortunate enough to spend any time in his presence.

I think I want to try out an Alien wedge now.

Not a club, but the Speedstick was kind of a one hit wonder. I was a big Vijay fan and picked one up (still have it somewhere).

Remember the Liquid Metal drivers?

Back around '05 when I used to work at a golf shop (Hawaii), we had tons of Korean guys (tourists & non-tourists) come in asking for Liquid Metal drivers. They were very specific in picking one up. I don't know if it was marketed heavily back in Korea at that time? Another line that was asked for a lot was the MacGregor MacTec drivers/fws.

Odyssey Dual Force Wedges........I still have a pair with the stronomic or was it Lyconite inserts and after 100's of rounds the inserts still do not have hardly a mark on them. That material is hard as rocks. I have never seen either then or up until now, a wedge that has more control spin.
