Who was the biggest one hit wonder in the golf equipment industry?

The Nventix Nunchuk driver shaft! It was the biggest hit at the Golf show that year. Had one... did nothing good for me or anyone who I tried it.

Not to forget... the Harisson shotmaker! Also had one. Thought it worked, like most people who bought one. Don't have it anymore and pretty much forgot about it, like most people who bought one!

Oversize MacGregor Putter.....Jake won and it was on fire.

 

Alien Wedge, Contour Wedge, and that new X2 or what ever it is....all are simulor, but limited conditions makes these a flash that keeps on flashing.

A couple posters mentioned the original Snake Eyes wedges. Ernie also produced the Smith & Wesson Snake Eyes irons. Talk about beautiful!!!! Way back when, there was story circulating about the sale of Snake Eyes to Golfsmith. Supposedly, a freight truck was loaded with all the left over wedges and S&W irons at Ernie's shop in Florida and shipped to Golfsmith. The story was that the truck never arrived in Texas and has never been found. Probably just an old "urban myth", but made for lots of shop talk back then.

I heard by the end, Snake Eyes had cut so many corners, using low-cost producers for the dies, never retooling, etc, the stuff that made it to Golfsmith was pretty much unsalable and they had to basically start from scratch with the SE line.

This could easily spawn a new thread for "equipment that rocked that no one liked aesthetically", or "revolutionary equipment that never caught on", lol.

 

When it comes to a one hit wonder...this is a hard one. Almost every company has more than one solid product or product line. Macs VIP Foil blades come to mind, I can't think of anything else that comes close that Mac put out. I could say Happy Putter with their adjustable putter, but it doesn't have the popularity. Even the original Heavy Putter could be a one hit wonder.

Great diver, bought it new on demo day, carried it in my bag till 2011. Crazy expensive at the time though.
