I can't see where Tiger's ego would allow him to take a 'pay cut' and PXG likely wouldn't pay what Nike was (assuming they don't like to toss money in the fire) as Tiger just isn't the factor he was back in his day (pre-injuries and pre-domestic troubles). If anyone signed Tiger it would more than likely be Titleist.

I'm not sure what benefits having Tiger play your clubs would be, especially if Tiger never successfully competes again. Seems to me that paying Tiger anything (literally) to play your clubs might be a bad investment.

the business world is full of politicians who don't know they are nothing but politicians that exaggerate all the time. Only problem, the business slicks are not as accountable.

Regardless of the fact they are not going to make clubs anymore... the apparel deal is probably so sweet, I can't see Nike even allowing Tiger to "endorse" any other manufacturer. What clubs he uses may change but as for Nike allowing an endorsement contract that's doubtful I would think.

I guess I am confused about the money aspect.. Even if Tiger signs with another OEM, won't he still get his $100m or whatever it is contract? I would think this would be similar to stock options or a signing bonus in corporate America.. They are obligated to pay it, even if they let you go, unless you are fired with cause. Tiger, Rory, etc. were not fired with cause. I would assume Nike is still on the hook for the remainder of these players' contracts. There could be a clause in there that if tiger switches equipment or apparel than Nike can get out of part of it.. but surely that wouldn't be the entire contract... I would bet it's not even close to half of the contract.

TW could be the ultimate trophy for Parsons.

 

The clubs are like 5k a set. So, we are probably talking about buyers who are guys over 40, probably over 50 or 60 with cash to burn. Lots of them divorced, bad backs, aging, chasing broads.

 

Their buyer could relate more to TW than Rory, I would think ; )

Within one day the entire planet earth actually knows what PXG is. As far as I can tell, that's the whole point of signing big names and it doesn't even seem to work (ie. Rory/Nike getting out of the business).

 

That said, Parsons is a billionaire so it's just cool to have TW on the payroll, call him to play golf (if he ever does), get pancakes, go on TWs submarine to hit the clubs in Cuba etc ; )

 

I can't imagine that any golf club company ever actually makes big money. Look at Callaway, stock is in the same place it was 20 years ago.

LOL, I get your point. But in reality Tiger will make a comeback. Now the questions is, how long will this comeback last? and how will he perform?

 

My guess is his back will continue to cause problems, and except for a few moments of brilliance the true greatness that was Tiger will never return.

I don't think TW goes to PXG. My guess is that he goes back and plays Mizzy irons. Nike still is contractualy obligated to pay him, even if it is just to wear the clothes. PXG cuold make a run at him but I don't see TW going that route.
