Which companies make a 14 or 15 degree hybrid?

Adams formerly made a 14* Idea Pro and above-mentioned models, Nickent made a 14* 4dx hybrid, Taylormade also made a 14* Rescue mid TP. Much easier to find viable options in 16* or so loft, however, hope these relatively inexpensive choices give you a chance to see what works best for you.

Adams, Nickent and Sonartec used to. Now, lowest they'll go is 16. Some not even that low.

Such great hybrids, too.

I honestly tried for a long time to replace the 909H. I have it paired with a 904HB X. One of the best hybrids to be released. Had no idea they made a 15. I bounce back and forth between my 909H and my UDI 18. May have to look into picking up a 15* for fun.

Yes, they are great hybrids. I have all the lofts. Good luck finding a 15 degree.

I finally found one with the YS-hybrid shaft to match my others, then broke the shaft on a stone tee box marker (don't ask, it was taller than I thought). I just put a matrix program shaft from an Adams super hybrid in it to see how that works. Epoxy is curing right now. I find the 15 degree to be a fantastically versitile club. Easy to hit high or low off the tee, and more controllable off the deck than a 3-wood for me.

I have a snake eyes 15* hybrid I got from my grandfathers stash. Haven't shafted it up yet, but very curious to see how I like it.

As stated above, there are quite a few options. Some (Super LS) are more fairway wood-ish, low spinning and made for distance. Others (Titleist, TaylorMade) are more of a true hybrid, meant to give you a shot at holding a green.

I'm toying with the idea of putting the 15° Super LS back in the bag.

I'm currently playing a Cleveland Classic 15.5 hybrid with a Fuji fuel 95 s shaft. It's a hell of a stick and if you find one they are cheap.

Alpha made a titanium, high COR, non-conforming 13* 1 hybrid, though they're not easy to find. A few of their resellers might have some hiding. I just put a strong White Tie in a 16* and while it feels a bit too stout for me, the ball just goes and goes. I've hit the Adams Super LS in 17* and it's long -- I'm guessing the 15* would be right up your alley and much easier to find.

I've always been interested on how these preform. anyone know?

Not sure what you mean by "these." In general, a low-lofted hybrid will be a bit shorter (distance-wise) than a similarly lofted fairway wood, because of the shorter shaft. But, I find they are easier to hit off the deck, because of the shorter shaft, and more upgright lie. I don'ft have a high swing speed (low 90's driver), but I have no issue elevating my 15* 909h off the tee or off the deck. But more importantly to me, I find it is easier to keep it low compared to a 3-wood. Generally, for me, it is just easier to control trajectory than a 3-wood off the deck, and easier to turn left off the tee.

With my (lack of) distance, I don't tend to be trying to hit many greens from much outside of 200 yards, so that is not really what I am trying to do with this club. It is a tee club for tight holes with trouble beyond 230 or so. It is also my "lay up just short of the greenside bunkers" club on long Par 5's. For these shots, I find a low, running ball to be very effective.

I also like the fact that, when I'm on a 225 yard Par 3 tee, nobody can tell I'm hitting a 15 degree club vs. the 3 or 4-hybrid that others are hitting.

Adams Super LS comes in 15*, but you'd better have some serious swing speed to properly elevate that sucker. I have the 17*- it's crazy long, almost catchs my 3 wood. However, it feels and sounds terrible, and I had to gob the toe with lead tape to prevent hooks. Even with those negatives, it's still very long. If you can elevate that 15, and keep it straight, it could easily replace 3 wood.

Thats because it is bordering on being a 3 wood, just a bit shorter and more upright. I doubt the 15* will hold a green any better than a 3 wood either, especially if the Super Hybrid spins as little as you say. But the shorter shaft should make it easier to hit the center of the face. I see using a low lofted hybrid instead of a FW as similar to choosing to hit a shorter driver. Give up a little distance for the sake of control and accuracy.

  • 6 years later...

Old thread. But is there a modern hybrid that is adjustable down to 14 degrees?

I love the ease in which to knock a 2 or 3 hybrid down the fairway off the tee.

So much more consistent and easier than the driver.

I'd love to try a 1 hybrid loft. Knocking it down the fairway 230m would totally eliminate the need for my driver.

Callaway paradym super hybrid 16, adjusted down to 15.  Put all the driver tech into a hybrid.  Off the tee getting 255 carry to 270/280 roll.  Thing is going to replace my driver.  I'm swinging hard like a iron with a 41 inch shaft compared to a 45 inch driver that is too inconsistent.  The super hybrid is big-time forgiving.  More forgiving than my ping 425 max and its not even close.  This club is not for people that can pipe their drives 300 down the middle every time.  Different strokes for different folks.
