Ive been to the golf show event in Paris last WE.

 

Ive talked to a flightscope rep and he said that they have very little to no info ob the mevo. What he knows is that they will be 3 models of the mevo that will fill the gap between mevo 1 and the Xi

 

One of mevo will mesured the spin axis.

No release is planned for the EU so far.

 

Ah yes he told me that the mevo wont mesure the club headspeed as it has only one doppler ( mevo I ???)

 

Dont take these info as granted even the flightscope staff in France are not sure as the had very little information

Thanks for getting that info. Although that would be interesting if they release 3 models and one had spin axis. Wouldn't that just eat all of the xi sales ? Unless there is a huge gap in accuracy...

Flightscope was very specific that head club speed is measured.

The website has mevo for golf, baseball, and soccer. I wonder if he's simply mistaking the 3 different sport applications for 3 different models.

No the hardware is universal to each sport. Only software (app) differences for each sport

For those wondering size it's pretty small. I saw it at CES. If I had to throw out a guess based on memory I'd say it's about the of an iPhone 6/s

 

That's what I figured seeing the USB port on the side. I'm glad it's small. I recently bought a mat and net for my yard and have really been enjoying working on my swing at home with my iPhone camera as reference. I was going to order a SC200 but decided to wait for this to release. Looks like people are chomping at the bit and some are getting ruffled because it's not yet released. Comes with the territory for new products. I've been checking around myself. Hoping it hits air soon. Look forward to adding it to my set up, assuming it works as advertised.

Dont even bother asking Flight Scope any questions about the Mevo. They act like the never heard of it.. Until there is a video or a review with someone using the device or it shows up at my front door, the Mevo doesnt exist.

Maybe a little got lost in the translation. Maybe not three different systems, but maybe a modular setup. Base unit $500. Add an Optishot type pad for $200. Maybe club sensor for $100. Secondary unit (spin axis) and more robust software / simulator package for $300.

I received a nice email back about spin axis...

 

"We are not considering an upgrade for the Mevo in the near future, definitely not in 2017. If we are to upgrade the Mevo to include measurements of the spin axis the model would be larger and more expensive."

 

So I don't believe there's anything to be concerned with. At very least, the statement that there's nothing this year indicates to me nothing related to "multiple mevo versions".

Seriously, I still think the Mevo is going to be pretty good. I just can't see Flightscope risk it's reputation on a bad first consumer product. At the same time, they're not going to honk off their professional users with a fully functional consumer model at a fraction of their pro models.

I'm not sure anyone said it wouldn't work into a net. What's been said is I asked the question and they wouldn't give me an answer.

It would not make sense to not work into a net if it requires magnetic dots for spin.

 

My main questions are what is going to actually make this better, and therefore worth the extra money over the SC200. I've had one finger on the buy button for the SC200 for about 8 weeks, since I put together my backyard mat/net practice set up. But I saw the talk of the Mevo at the same time so I've held off awaiting info.

 

The SC200 isn't going anywhere. But I do want to know if the Mevo is better, or offers more information that is actually useful. I also want to know how the app works.

 

In the end I hope that it's fast and easy. What I don't want is to spend more time screwing with a gadget than working on my swing.

 

I'm sure most have similar questions. I'm not willing to pre-order blind though. I will wait for a real demo.

Can anyone identify what the box is they have connected to the TV on their FB page with the Mevo? Doesn't look like a Apple tv box.

Box sorta looked like a raspberry Pi; appropriate today.

I thought they would just use a Lightning to HDMI cable from an iPhone to show the numbers on the screen. I can see someone at the range getting their Mevo stepped on, if your not careful with it being so small.

eBay will probably be the best bet. I'm guessing the expectations combined with a tough return policy will send a few to ebay

Before buying it, make sure the app is available. I would expect the Mevo app to be only be available in the App Store for the market the Mevo is being sold. If the Mevo is only sold in the US, the app will probably only be available in the US App Store.
