If it is truly measuring and not guessing the only thing that should change based on an changing the club is the distance. The spin shouldn't change the ball has no idea what its being hit with. A 115 mph club head, 12 degree launch 2600 spin is going to go the same distance whether i hit it with a wedge a 7 iron or a driver. You don't have to change a GC2 based on the club right?

 

I suspect MEVO makes an adjustment for driver due to tee height. If the reviewers had set the system with an iron, it would have made a difference.

Friday, I got a call from Florida I did not recognize, and let it go to voice mail. Turned out it was FlightScope support informing me of the firmware update and asking if I had any issues with the MEVO. I thought that was pretty nice...

Anybody have a sense of how the Mevo would work with limited flight range balls? It's not clear to me how the limited flight ball works - but our range requires them for woods, and I'd love to be able to hit driver and have a real idea of how far it went.

Just got mine yesterday and tried it today.

 

Range balls were about 7 mph less ball speed average on the same club head speed.

 

We hit some range balls, got some #'s and then hit some prov1's and tp5's and that was about the average. If it was "guessing" or calculating based on an algorithm I would say that the numbers would have been the same.

I guess if you get clubhead speed and launch angle, that should be enough.

On the one a friend owned it seemed to be worth the $500. The biggest thing I noticed is how inadequate the documentation seemed to be. They need to include an instructional CD or link to videos on their site. While it will never be mistaken for a high end instrument, it has lots of capabilities that owners have to research to understand. Might produce as many frustrated owners as satisfied. The information in this thread far exceeds anything they supply. I think they owe Honda at least a big thanks for doing their instructional documentation. I would suspect he knows more about their product capabilities than they do...

Thanks for the interest but sold mine to another member already. For what it's worth, I think the mevo is a solid device and as I wait for my SkyTrak to arrive I've missed it dearly.

I tried mine out yesterday and all of the other parameters seem right on from what I could tell but I noticed the height for every club was showing in the 20-40 foot range and no higher. Wedges, driver, everything, and I know they were way higher than that. I may not have had the mevo at the same height as the ball. I'll try it again this week, probably today, and mess with some placements of the unit.

I've noticed when dialing in wedges, the app maxes out at a 45* launch angle. Yardages seem good however so I've been ignoring the metric for that application.

I was the first person to complain about the Mevo and I'm even on my 2nd unit. I only use stickers on the wedges since it seems like those have the greater variances in yardage. I also see more missed shots with the driver if I'm using the stickers on the ball. I found that chasing spin numbers was pretty useless in my practice sessions. So to forewarn people ahead of time. Driver must have 10' of flight to pickup and all other clubs can be 8'. Just to warn you, 10' of flight into the net where if you miss the next is pretty darn scary. P2P looked like they had about 6' of flight. Mevo must be on the same surface height and level front to back to be accurate. I'm not taking sides between FS and P2P because I was in the same situation with the Mevo a few weeks ago where I wanted to drop kick it into my pond. The one I have now with the 1.6 firmware works fantastically. Pretty tough to review your shots when everything in the log says "Driver" but whatever....My first Mevo was like P2P's and the 2nd is like Ryan Metcalfe's review.

For clarification, MEVO does measure clubhead speed. It does not track path or face angle...
