Is Tiger Woods playing? Guess we will find out by friday afternoon. If not should he show up, give a presser and pay some in person respects? Especially since he skipped the funeral?

Hes not and he won't.

So you know already that Tiger isn't going to play? Do you know anything else about Tiger, is he playing in the Masters then, or is he finished?

Don't know 100%, but I seriously doubt he'll play. I think he's finished. Too much scar tissue (physical and mental)

Let's forget Justin Thomas for a second. Apparently only 10 of top 25 OWGR are playing Arnold Palmer Inv. Only 2 of 24 Ryder Cup players showed up to his funeral (Rickie and Phil). Maybe it's because I knew him for so long, but I'm disturbed by the lack of respect. If you're a tour player making millions, Mr Palmer was the most important person to you(outside your family) that ever lived.

That's where I (and a couple beers) was coming from.

Hey RDD, would you mind if we starting a Q/A thread with you so GolfWRX members could pick your brain on your tour life, playing lessons, clubs, mental approach, and/things you'd recommend to players of all levels to improve their game?

I have a few questions burning but this thread isn't the appropriate place for them.

Start it up. I'll get to them when I can

See this is a problem I can agree with. I don't necessarily think Thomas is in the wrong here. In my opinion he has a pretty legitimate excuse to be absent. But the guys whom are doing it because of scheduling or other, less valid, reasons... I can take issue with. You don't see a ton of these guys missing Jack's Tourney (I know Phil doesn't play in the Memorial a ton, at least he used to never play in it but I think recently has started). Arnie was every bit as important as Jack to the game.

The funeral issue is another one that is hard to comprehend. I do find it interesting that out of the people whom attended, one of them was a young guy. Both of the guys who did attend seem to be considered some of the most classy guys on tour. That's not a coincidence. But it also points to the fact that this isn't solely an age thing. Walker, Sneds, Kuch, and ZJ are all over 35 and not considered as part of that young generation whom according to many 'don't get it'. Not sure if it's counting the coaches but Furyk, Bubba and Tiger were there as well. Team Europe had a handful of guys whom are older as well. So it's not solely an age thing.

The Ryder Cup was also I believe the day after the funeral. So I guarantee that played the biggest factor. But it is bad form that 2 of the leaders from the US team were there and the others weren't.

I get it. It's gonna be a bigger issue with me than most. BTW, Bubba was at funeral, I can't remember seeing Furyk, but he may have been, and Tiger was absolutely not there.

The memorial service on 10/4 was two days after the Ryder Cup ended. The RC was played the week of his passing. Photo of Rickie, Bubba and Phil at the memorial service with the RC trophy.

I'll always be a Rickie fan for bringing that to his service. Great pic. Don't see Tiger though

Robert, many people here have expressed the opinion that if Arnie himself appeared hovering ghostly over JT's bed, he'd tell him to go to the wedding and don't give it a second thought because family and good friends are the most important part of your life. Knowing him as well as you do, do you think it's accurate?

It's more complicated than that. I don't feel like speaking for him on an open forum like this though.

Reading this has been fun. I have to say, it's hilarious to watch some of these keyboard warriors try to take their shot at "fame" by insulting RDD. I may not have agreed with his comments to JT, but at least he had the guts to come on here and stand up for himself!

I try to laugh, but since he's explained himself and been nothing but courteous and respectful, the chickensh$ts trying to bait him are a little pathetic.

That's fine, but the flip side of that coin is you brought this whole thing up on Twitter. There's not too many forums more open than that. I appreciate that your relationship with Mr. Palmer was closer than most and therefore it's harder for you not to take things personally that you perceive as a slight against him. But everything I've read about him seems to suggest that he would have indeed encouraged Justin Thomas to go to that wedding. Anyway, thanks so much for coming on here and giving your side.

I can say with 100% honesty that I read the OP remarks and maybe a couple more before posting my post....it wasnt until after that I saw Robert had joined WRX and was in this thread and doing a Q&A in another...that being said I dont take anything back but it wasnt a bait post or "keyboard warrior" type post. Appreciate RD's honesty and openness about the situation.

The only thing that I will say, and I believe that I spent enough time around the Man and spoke to him enough to form this opinion and that is that to stand behind one's words and actions and this includes honoring commitments and being there for one's closest friends is one of the foundational bedrocks on being the type of man that Mr. Palmer would have been be Proud of, approved of and understood, even if that meant missing his tournament to honor that commitment.

With only 20 of the Top-25 signed to Play thus far, what about DJ, Adam scott, Jordon Speith, Phil or Patrick Reed, to name a few???

Are their tweety attacks forthcoming, lol??

Obviously ever Player who has teed it up Post-Palmer directly or indirectly owes Mr. Palmer a deep and hopefully sincere debt of gratitude however there is nothing in my world more important than my Family and closest Friends, and obviously Justin Thomas has similar thoughts and beliefs.

I'm just curious why no tweety shout outs to Phil, Adam, Jordan or Dustin, LMAO?

I will give RD credit for coming on the board to respond-

Hats off on that move ?

I'm still not sold on using a keyboard to rip someone publicly-

The way to motivate one to positive action is not to attempt to humiliate them-

Please don't tell me that that was not the intent as #1, the intent of one's words or actions are not determined by the speaker of those words or deliverer of said actions but instead the recipient of either the words or actions and to most recipients, a public tweety scolding is meant to chastise, demean or bilittle, i.e., humiliate.

There are much better ways to represent and honor Mr. Palmer's commitment, legacy and memory-

Given Justin Thomas's actions in this situation and RD's response, ya don't have to be a Mensa or even know Mr. Palmer to know which side of the table that he'd be sitting-

For you young guys, as someone who's been down the road a bit and made my share of mistakes, if you ever want to influence someone positively and attempt to change their words, thoughts or actions, try to talk to em belly to belly and that's not doable, call on the phone and speak to them privately one on one-

You don't have their phone number you say?

Then you don't know em well enough to tell em *** anyway~

Just take care of yourself and you just do the right thing and let them learn as they live :)

Just my .03 worth?

Stay well Gals & Gents ?

All the Best,

RP

Bro, I think the world of Tiger as a a Player and Champion as you well know, however RD's right about the mental and physical scar tissue and I hope like hell that he's wrong about Tiger being finished but damn, it's not looking real bright

I tip my hat cuz he has the stones to say what a ton of Players think but don't have the stones to admit publically, so the either patronize him with ******** platitudes or say the PC response like the lil cookie cutter products that they are(this is coming from one of their own, LMAO)

Like I said, I hope that he's wrong :)

Have a great evening my Friend?

My Best,

RP

Arnie would be 100% fine with JT decision and would most likely do the same thing if in his shoes. Damron is trying to hard to stir the pot and make a splash in this media game by being confrontational...kind of annoying (like skip bayless)

I can tell you for certain that I've never watched Skip Bayless

Off topic, did you win any money playing Gin today?
