Phil and Bones parting ways after 25 years! (MERGED)

Here we go. Defending Phil? I can tell by your syntax you're smarter than this.

What bugs me the most is the line of people that stand up in his defense. Phil has used the media for years as his crusade to sculpt an image of wholesomeness. We have heard from Phil that he wants to be an “Arnold Palmer” type of figure. We hear from the media he’s a great husband, great father, great brother, great boss and statesman of the game. What makes him more great than any other player? One thing - donations!

Here is my take - Phil will NEVER be an Arnold Palmer? Look at the company he keeps. For pete’s sake look at what is buried in every article you read about Phil – a reference to his dubious legal issues that never seem to get resolved. I am not fooled by the Phil Mickelson machine that has one purpose – to churn more cash. I think a guy like Phil that hides behind a facade of “playing dumb” is downright disrespectful to the game.

Whether Bones was fired or not, I think Bones got out at the right time, that is before getting mixed up in Phil’s “underworld.”

The laws and precedents that were in place at the time Phil placed the trade made it impossible for Phil to be prosecuted for insider trading. He chose to cooperate with the SEC and AG and to return any proceeds he made on the trade in exchange for immunity from future prosecution.

His actions are reasonable for any person in a similar situation being represented by legal counsel. He wasn't charged with any crimes and he didn't profit from the trade.

He cut a deal with the SEC to turn state's evidence on one of his good time buddies.

Ferguson is legend.

How was Tim responsible? Was he holding a gun to his head forcing him to drink and drive like a idiot?

How is he responsible? This must be some kind of joke.

Newsflash - Tim was in the cart without a shirt, and drunk out of his gourd. Did he do the right thing and attempt to stop Harbour or caution him to slow down. Nope. He just kept on drinking, causing trouble and probably laughing the whole way. Why? 'Cause brother Phil had a job awaiting on the bag.

Again, playing the Rebecca of Sunnybrook Farm card. Oh, no officer, it wasn't me , I didn't do anything. And that's why he's irresponsible. The act of NOT doing anything to prevent this problem makes him a party.

Do you have any personal experience at all with the man or is your abject hatred of him completely borne of what you read in the print media and see on TV?

do you live in the 1920's??? who exactly are they acting responsibly for? you realize that 90% of publicity is to show incidents in which people in the public eye are doing things in a different light and not the 'professional manner' in which you speak of?

people are going to act how they act, and despite what you PERSONALLY believe...they don't have responsibility to anyone. sorry ferg, just being real with you. just because they're famous - they don't owe you sh*t.

*EDIT* 98% of percentages used for reference are made up.

To get back on topic. What would drive a decision from Phil to hire his brother Tim for the post Bones era? My thoughts - More than likely, it was a bet that went wrong. Surely no one in their right mind would hire Tim Mickelson after hearing about this crazed golf cart incident that put a young woman's life in danger.

The entire gist of all your posts on Phil. Speculation and conjecture on your part. Do you actually have any hard proof of any the stuff you say?

How is shirtless Tim not on topic? You've suggested this to be an important piece of the puzzle numerous times...

Fergie, you just went from point A to point Z without stopping at bcdefghijklmnopqustuvwxy I mean seriously your mind works in mysterious ways.

So in your mind.....Tim's brother wouldn't hire him to carry his golf clubs, even though he is an accomplished golfer and a college golf coach, because he happened to be in a golf cart driven by someone else who was allegedly drinking and someone was injured. You use the work "crazed" do you know the meaning? She was 39 years old, she should know better not to ride on the back of a cart, you make it sound like she was a teenager, she was clearly violating club policy by hitching this ride. Tim wasn't driving, you don't even know the details. What does being shirtless have to do with anything? Do you know they were drunk? I say the odds are you stand a better chance of being drunk right now than they were, from the sound of your posts.

Like many, Tiger was my hero growing up. Posters in my room, read all his books, knew all his stats etc.... November of 2009 was a sad time for me. Thanks for bringing up those demons.
