Ready for this to get started! I have my alarm set for 4:30. Might attempt to listen/watch while cycling. Still leaves me some time to ride and still catch some before work! Already set up a 3rd monitor "sports" monitor at the office!

I am pulling for Rickie but I just hope that it is competitive. I would really like to see the scores around -4 or -5 under total. Not too hard, not too easy. Oh and I really want 5-6 people in contention come back 9 on Sunday!!!

Fine, we can call it the European Opean.

I like not calling it The Open, because it's not the one and only open. It's too vague pretentious.

I fixed that for ya. :swoon:

What's so difficult? There are no other opens called The Open

It's not "difficult" It's the fact that when someone uses the term "British Open" there is that group of people who feel the need to express their mock outrage and create a kerfuffle on the interwebs.

It's simply a term that has been used for around 100 years by very prominent people in the golf world to clarify they are talking about the Open played on the British isles. This normally happens when you are giving an interview or writing an article in the Western hemisphere or even parts of Asia.

It's no different than when someone from europe refers to the Masters as the US Masters. It sounds silly if you are setting on US soil but I suppose it makes sense if you are in the UK.

BTW I have heard former Open Champions refer to it as the British Open during TV interviews. They were not being disrespectful.

The only people who call the Masters the US Masters are the ill informed though. I wouldn't call the British Masters nor the Nordea Masters, the Masters.

But if your not Murican and you call it the US Masters

I dont care

Its the pedantic, almost parochial, nature of the whole thing that is silly and, in true Murican fashion, makes it almost worth saying and getting the Brit dander up ; )

If I call it "The Open" some people around here think it's a volleyball tournament sponsored by Natty Light at the local Irish pub. That's why it helps to say British Open in some areas.

Going with Hideki. If he wins the Japanese press will have to come up with a new question during press conferences.

I'm sure they will still provide some unintended comedic relief.

I shall be betting on the following:

1. Rickie @17.5 - seems to really love the open.

2. ZJ @100 - been there done it.

3. Paddy @75 - found some form last two weeks on the links - and its Birkdale.

Paddy is history and will never win again.

Oh, that's right! I forgot.

Early in hand photos of the new GT2 models t the truck.  As soon as they show up on the range in player's bags we'll get some better from the top photos and hopefully some comparison photos against the last model.
