Remarkable how much worse the tee game is compared to Hero. Totally different course and situation, but still. Short game and putter are still classic Tiger but sooner or later these big misses are going to end up on the wrong side of the stakes.

 

I think that the Hero course was wide open and not intimidating or tee lined. Mentally he is frail. He always messes up his opening tee shot. Haney is right.

Finally a nice tee shot by Tiger.

Other than the big crowds, Big Cat is getting a dose of what the average PGA player goes through every week. Struggling to make the cut, struggle to climb the leaderboard on the weekend, etc. That kind of grind has to be tough for Tiger who for years just had to show up in order to make the first page of the leaderboard. I hope mentally he hangs in there.

 

What are you talking about? He was always a grinder and I can point to plenty of tournaments during his prime where his ballstriking was off and he had to grind out a decent score. I guarantee you the stuff with the injuries has been a lot tougher for him than what we are seeing this week.

Worst driving and iron play I have seen but then it is expect after no competitive golf for 3 year. That said he still needs a pair of eyes to look at his swing. No way on earth he can go solo with his swing. Just no way! What he does not need though are one of those young tech track-man obsessives like Como /Foley they are the worst type of coaches for a tinkerer like Tiger (Fuel to fire) . An old school swing coach who is not there to tech him anything but to make sure he the swing is constant and simple.

There’s been lots of conflicting information about how tall Tiger is. When he shook hands with Charley Hoffman and Patrick Reed after their round yesterday, he looked to be slightly taller, and both of them are listed at 6’0.
