Check out the kid (hope it's a kid ; ) in the tiger costume. I think he's taking a pic of his hand holding TWs. Rofl.

And look at Molinari back there. He must be thinking this is insane.

Here you go ;)

p.s. this is one of the reasons why I wanted him to win, he is such a great guy! Somebody also posted once a story about him giving a wedge and other stuff to a kid after a tournament, no idea how to fint it though!

Proposed new USGA rule-

In any competition, when a player deliberates longer than 2 minutes on what club to select on any shot, his caddie shall, without penalty, slap him firmly on the back side of his head and clearly say "While we're young!!"

Fixed.

I'm surprised Noren got free relief from that. I mean, I get it. It's a man made structure.

BUT

Had those grandstands not been there, Noren would have had a 30-40 yard pitch from behind the green. But because of the structure he got to drop the ball like 25-30 yards CLOSER TO THE HOLE. That's insane. I feel like he should have had to take a unplayable lie penalty for how insensately long he hit it. It's not like he just hit it 10 yards over the green and the ball was resting against a wall of the grandstand.

I disagree with the free relief.

Is this the first PGA tournament you've ever seen on tv? Honest question.

Not even close.

I've been playing golf for 28 years (I'm 30 years old).

I've been watching golf on TV since the early 90's.

I've gone to a fair share of PGA events in person.

Remember when phil hit his ball up on top of the gallery stand? He played it right off the green carpet. He didn't get any relief from it.

I think there is a huge difference between going SLIGHTLY long and having the wall of the grandstand interfere with your backswing, versus going so far long that your ball travels down through a tunnel and ends up 30-40 yards past the green.

I have never seen a pro not get relief from a grandstand. I remember that Phil play. I thought he chose to hit if off the carpet....because he deemed the lie as perfect, and he had a swing and clear path to the green.....and he's a showman to the highest degree. He could've taken relief if he wanted it, correct?

very happy with Jason's win but also am quite concerned about his long or even short term future considering what he said about his recent MRI results....

you could also see the concern in his face during his interviews when he was describing his condition and i hope it doesn't lead to something similar to what happened to Tiger..

i guess the good thing here is he discovered this early enough vs Tiger and can still tweak his swing to hopefully prevent it from getting worse..

this will surely affect his playing schedule and i wish him all the best moving forward..

That's correct OBbogey.

Jacob, this is TIO (temporary immovable object). You can find numerous discussions about its application in the Rules Forum if you like involving TV towers, grandstands, hospitality tents, trailers etc. I'm no expert on the topic but have learned a few things about it here on wrx.

@JustinRayGC The data to scour through isn't 100% complete, but I can't find another instance of three straight weeks with playoffs of 4+ holes in PGA Tour history.

These fans are insane....dudes standing like 2 feet to the right of Day in a line 50yds long. It's not like pros NEVER shank the ball. You could friggin crack your skull!

I'm always very surprised at how close the tournaments let fans stand to the player on shots like that. I'm further surprised that no one has gotten killed or blinded or concussed. I'm not sure the fans know how tough of a shot that is and how easily something bad could happen. 3-4 years ago Bubba was teeing off on 18 at Doral. He was playing a big slice of course to the right and he had to aim over the gallery. He buzzed one dude's head. Must have scared him half to death.

Completely agree, it WILL happen one day where a guy is just going to get creamed, could even die if it's a tee shot. I've attended tournaments, i mean there's zero chance i'd ever stand in a place like that

People are nuts! This was Rory on Sunday on hole 14, I couldn’t believe how close they were and with a tree right there.

Wow. I didn't see it but based on how his feet are aligned I'm guessing he was trying to split the gap of the first two trees right in front of him? The gallery is so close that any ricochet would be nearly impossible to avoid.

Why does Tiger get to wear a tee shirt? Albeit an expensive tee shirt. I thought dress code was a collared shirt. I've seen private courses that would not allow that shirt .... even with Tiger inside.

PGA Tour dress code doesn’t mention collars I don’t believe and ain’t nobody kicking Tiger out of their club if he showed up to play in that.

Nod to Rickie Fowler thread?

run of the mill driver with stock shaft
a couple of outdated hybrids
shovel-ier shovels
wedges from same shovel company
some putter with a dead insert and
a hideous grip

I do. Had a couple casual suits back in the late 90s with them and my wedding tux had one but it is called a Mandarin collar in that situation.

In all examples, I looked pretty damned sharp if I do say so mice elf. (No that was not auto corrected)
