I think her putting ability is underrated, she is at worst average.

From what I seen she is actually a pretty good lag putter.

IMO her main issue is dealing with adversity. She looks so frustrated and miserable when the putts don't fall.

Lexi's putting can be described in 5 words.

"Lexi has short putt YIPS."

Too bad the BROOMSTICK was banned....though Langer could teach her his method where there's a 1mm gap between his hands and his chest/shirt.....lol.

I agree...an average putter...especially when the nerves get down to her hands on Sunday.

Lexi can also get a bit clanky and yippy on some chips too.

Wow. I didn't expect to hear it coming from the broadcast booth, but Karen said it. Lydia ruined a perfectly good swing with Leadbetter.

Interesting how her 2012 swing looked like Brooke's current swing with the quick clearing of the hips.

I don't understand why announcers think blind shots are so difficult. The golf swing is executed with the eyes on the ball, and not the green surface or flag. Once you have your distance, club selection, and alignment, you swing.

So I guess we can expect a new Leadbetter blog tomorrow, he seems to get his feelings hurt easily lol

I have to disagree somewhat with Karen regarding Jessica's putting. Just because a player has the best putting stats doesn't automatically make them the best putter. Without strokes gained putting data, or even proximity to the hole, we don't know if the putting stats are primarily due to superior ballstriking and scrambling.

I appreciate Mediheal stepping up to sponsor the tournament, but the facial masks on the tee box signs make me think I'm watching the Mediheal/Friday the 13th Championship presented by Jason.

It seems to me, correctly or incorrectly, that Alison has been enjoying the collegiate and sorority life at UCLA to the point where it seems to have become a significant distraction to her game and consequently, her results.

I think you'd be distracted too....if you were hanging out with the UCLA "BABE CAVE" girls too.

PROOF below. :taunt:

Damn.

Pretty sure that they are doing more than hanging out.

Lydia's ball striking s*cks.

I wouldn't say that, but it sure wasn't anything to brag about.

Now, the 235 yard average drives over two rounds is bad. By comparison, So Yeon has averaged 265 yards.

Lydia can hold her head up high she out drove Brooke today who's average drive was 192 yards, must have been an incredible hook lol

I'm pretty sure they're only using 1 measuring hole here at this event.

Suuuuuuu! Made it to the weekend! So relieved, was getting pretty spooked for her. Maybe she's turning a corner, with whatever's been down for her. But one week at a time, and this was a much needed good two days.

Ah Yuting... well, I hope it was still a good and fun trip and experience for her. Wish I could follow the CLPGA, she's a 1000 times adorable.

Ouch, need to send some good energy to brighten Inky's day, hope she is not being all hard on herself. Night and day with yesterday. At least she still made it through.

I'm happy with so many in the top 10, would be excited for them. Great to see Sei Young and Lydia up top again, happy to see Moriya following up with a good week after her win. But what you guys say about the rankings and Annie Park is compelling, it'd make the biggest difference for her.

oh yeah, that picture with Alison is crazy!

I totally agree with you. Too much ambiguity in the current putting stats. It needs more context in order to better understand the putting comparison between players, etc.

Her main point was that she had a decent swing that worked for her as an amateur, and that she really gained nothing messing with it. I've said it a million times. If you change your swing, and lose distance and accuracy, you've wasted your time.

In 2012 Lydia won the Canadian Open as a 15 year old amateur. She averaged 265 yards off the tee, 11.75 fairways, and 15.5 greens. In 2013 she won it averaging 271 yards, 11.25 fairways, and 14 greens. Fast forward 5 years, and she's averaging under 250 yards, less than 10 fairways, and 12.25 greens.

Karen giving Leadbetter a beating today too. Just mentioned how much better J. Korda's swing looks since leaving him and how her dispersion has tightened up.

With her pothead demeanor, I wish Lydia would just stick with her old man swing and clean up. Seems like a fun girl, otherwise.

She's the clubhouse leader, she and Charlie are the group of the day and she's -5 this Saturday. What planet are you on pal? So mean. Korda needs this birdie to tie Ko.

In edit Korda turned into Korea thanks spellchecker

Just got back from the tournament today. $15 daily pass & free parking.

The crowds were pretty sparse.

Only Wie, Lydia, Lexi and the final pairing had “crowds” watching & following them.

I hope this tournament survives.

The course is magnificent. Rolling hills and tight tree-lined fairways.

It’s amazing to see how straight the ladies hit the ball.

One shot I saw several players struggle with: the 3rd shot (half to 3/4 wedge) into the uphill #9 with a front pin.

Saw too many chunked shots that ended up short and rolled back off the false front.

Oh wow, very exciting. Would love for Lydia to get some of her magic back. She totally didn't deserve the general implosion.

You mean like laid back? I think Lydia's demeanor is one of the neatest things about her!

Minjee's been doing so well this season. But I think this is the closest she's been to the lead and her best chance yet going into Sunday this year.

Does anybody know what type of putter Jess Korda is using this week? They showed one close up, slow/mo of one of her putts, but I could not make out the symbol on the heel. It looks like some kind of SC, but there are no circles in the back of the blade or anything.

Lol. She turned 21 less than a week ago, and we're hearing "Vintage Lydia". Boy, do I feel old. I'd love to see her back in the winner's circle, but at a minimum I'd like to see another solid round. That would be a real boost for her.

With Jessica capable of going low herself, and Moriya and Minjee lurking, it's going to be a fun finish.
