I just bought a switch (supposed to ship before the end of the month) and am already looking forward to playing that game.

I love the look for the Toulon Chicago. I would like to get first dibs on the DCmidnight resale of it in a year.

I've always liked the look of the double bend or single bend steel shaft into anser/newport head but never end up jiving with my stroke. They tend to be face balanced or near face balanced and I feel like I never get the putterhead to rotate. Feels like I am always hooding the face on the way back.

I barely watch Twitch if its not Call of Duty or poker related - but please count me in on City live streaming this.I love the look for the Toulon Chicago. I would like to get first dibs on the DCmidnight resale of it in a year.

I cant justify the cost right now, with the long neck added on - which is what the Austin I have has - it starts at $550 new. Not worth it. If I can find a used one on ebay at some point though, all bets are off - I paid less than half that for the long neck Austin.

And I hadn't heard of GoodWood either. I guess that doesnt mean anything though, I feel like every other clubmaker on the 'gram has bought a CNC machine in the last few years and is pumping out $4-500 putters or $300 wedges. Is there a point at which we reach oversaturation with custom putter outfits? I say this as someone thats owned...a lot of them at one point or another. I know "choice is good for the consumer" and all that - but how many raw 009 models can you look at if you're shopping for one?

I don't know if you can hit the ones laying around the range, but you can toss a ball down anywhere and hit it. You can take huge divots in the putting green.

hoop -- I don't know if the game is still on sale, but they had it for $7.50 the other day.

Today my coach and I played alternate shot against these two girls. Coach teed off every hole, and he did not have his A game.

We beat em anyway and so coach tells them that it's tradition that the winners get the losers dinner.

So he decides to make a roast in the microwave, burns it and sets off the smoke alarm. My dog started going crazy.

Also, my ex wife showed up at my first golf tournament with her new boyfriend, Tobais. A real d bag. The press was all over that.

LOL. I saw that.

I played the full disc golf course. The disc golfers are ornery, but not nearly as bad as the mini-golfers.

Alright time to instigate a discussion:

You can only play three golf courses for the rest of your life. Name them, and justify your choices.

edit: let's assume that location doesn't matter. You don't have to pick three courses in pinehurst because they're all near one another. You can pick East Potomac White Course, Bandon Dunes, and Moon Crater Links.

For the sake of the hypothetical, do these have to be courses we’ve actually played in real life?

Sweet - I really want to check the Chicago out. Looks amazing. I think my next round of golf is scheduled for July 23, 2021 so hopefully we can sync up before then.

GTT:

When I think about this, there are a few must haves for me:

A cool location. If I'm stuck playing golf, I want to be in a city/area that I love.

The course must be walkable.

The course must not eat golf balls.

So my list in no particular order

Chambers Bay: I absolutely loved everything about this course. The holes are fun and strategic. The walk is tough but fun. The views are among the best I've ever had on a course. And throw in your near Seattle. After I played a round here I started looking at jobs/apartments in the Seattle area I loved it so much.

Mid Pines: Everyone loves Pinehurst and this course just speaks to me. I love everything about it.

Torrey Pines: Probably would be my choice if purely based on golf course, but I loved playing golf and then hanging out in SD after the round. Great walk and if I'm going to be playing a lot of golf at this course, there are far worse courses to do it.

Only picking from courses I've played, and totally on quick gut feel.

- Pacific Dunes

- Pine Needles

- Silver Spring Country Club

Pacific Dunes is my favorite course I've played, and it has great replay value. The course setup, and weather conditions would make for tons of variability. It's open enough to forgive less than ideal shots, but still requires quality ones to make good scores. If I could only pick one course, this wouldn't be it though. Not playing in that weather EVERY round for the rest of my life.

Pine Needles is my favorite course in the Pinehurst area. I like that it's a "bigger" course than mid pines, in terms of playing length. It's got the feel where every hole feels isolated from the others, which is nice sometimes. I think it challenges all parts of the game. The practice facilities are great. The people are nice. The climate is what I'd like. If I only get one course, this is it.

Silver Spring - I don't really know. I just enjoy playing the course so much, I had to pick it.

Chambers Bay

Mid Pines

Bedford Springs

Chambers Bay is a no brainer. I'm sure it helps that the day I was there was a 10 weather-wise, but it checks all the boxes. Good walk (challenging), funky green complexes that give you options with all kinds of clubs, excellent views. I thought about putting Old Macdonald here, but Chambers is a better version of Old Mac. It's so dramatic I can't imagine ever getting tired of it. Roommate has come across jobs that interest her in Seattle, and I would 100% be on board with never seeing any of you ever again, moving out there and playing 20 times a year at Chambers.

Mid Pines is kind of a mini chambers, but the walk is easier, and it's got smaller, more challenging greens. One can more Hot Metal one's way around the course. Good mix of short/long par 3s. Vistas through the trees are awesome.

I struggled to pick a third course, honestly. I got two firm courses so I want to switch it up a little bit and get something more parklandish. Bethpage is an awesome golf trip, but it'd be a huge pain to play often with how crowded it is. I really enjoy Diamond Run in Pittsburgh, but it's unwalkable. Pine Needles is good but I don't love it as much as other people. Worthington/Blue Mash are excellent layouts, but they're crowded and can be slow.

I settled on Bedford Springs. It's a good layout, fairly forgiving off the tee, a good mix of shorties and longies. Best collection of par 3's I've played. It's not an easy walk, but it's walkable. The biggest thing is it's always in great shape, and empty. It feels like you have the place to yourself a lot of times. 36 is always possible. That's a big deal if I'm going to be playing there for the rest of my life.

The neck is going to cause toe hang not a shaft..

a builder can make a long neck whatever toe hang they want depending of placement of the neck and angle.

My 3 are:

The Old CourseNorth BerwickCarnoustieTOC: Doesn't need much explanation. It's an incredible place and there's a spiritual feeling when stepping on the first tee. There's nothing like the walk up 18 and finishing out in front of a crowd of people who feel the same way about the game as I do. It's a special walk.

NB: By far the most fun golf course I have ever played in my life. It's on the sea/bay, has incredible views, and is links golf at its finest. The original Redan, The Pit, a Biarritz green, random brick walls running through the course - lots of unique holes. Coming up 18 is like a little mini Old Course with the way the hole is framed coming back to the town.

Carnoustie; It's my favorite golf course I've ever played. It had the best conditioned greens I've ever putted on, too. I definitely enjoyed it more knowing some of the history of the course. It has Hogan's Alley and Spectacles - holes we remember from Open Championships. I made par on the 18th. Ceejay>Jean Van de Velde. It would be interesting to play this in real weather conditions or legit Open Championship conditions.

I'd be perfectly content never playing a golf course again with trees that are in play.

Some incredibly courses have been played by folks in this thread.

In the past, perhaps even in this thread, I have downplayed playing 'premier' golf courses as just not a big interest of mine.

Whereas, I definitely don't have interest in playing exorbitantly priced courses just because they've been on TV (most of the TPC courses come to mind), there are definitely courses I've seen on various youtube channels that really seem like a blast and a fun experience.

I think most of my previous take was due to me being a salty, broke early 20-something. Being a more seasoned, only semi-broke 30-something makes the idea of 'destination' golf or just more expensive golf, in general, more appeasing.
