In two rounds this weekend, had six birdies. Didn't birdie the same hole twice.

Didnt break 80 in either round.

As good as my driving has been, iron game really needs some work.

Sounds like some of my rounds especially lately. Did not play our usual Saturday Shootout yesterday. Not many showed up. My normal team and 2 others joined up and we played a 6 man Round Robin. I had 5 birdies and barely broke 80 ( shot 79 with a bird on the last hole) I will admit I have been experimenting a lot equipment wise lately. Came home and threw in my normal stuff. Played the back side this afternoon and shot a flawless even par 9 pars.

Hope you guys did not mind me jumping in here because I live no where near you guys but read your posts all the time--- Sure seems you guys have a lot of fun

many months ago i downloaded this countdown app and set a countdown for about when i thought i'd get to the airport this morning to fly down south. as it turns out the people who download those apps are all women and everyone's countdowns are wedding/shower/etc. related. All the ads dominated the screen and were for wedding stuff which i found annoying*. So i hadn't opened it in forever. This morning it buzzed a notification that I was headed to the masters. LOL.

I was just texting with the guys I was supposed to go with. I'm not that broken up about it. I just miss the course and the grill. I really really really miss the course and the grill.

*seemed strange that it never customized ads to me but I literally opened the app 5 times or less

Played in DE. twice this past weekend. Course is ok but the greens in some places are in rough shape. Fairways need to grow in some but were firm and fast. Tricky course with some wide fairways but a couple where the ball can roll out into water, swamp or woods. Very undulating greens on every hole. Angles into the greens are important to try and get the ball close to pins. Shot 81 then 79 on Sunday. 1 hour from the house so I was home at 1:30, played in 3 1/2 hours. Course was booked up until 2:15 on Sunday.

I think I had gotten over it until I got to work this morning and my Outlook alarm went off "DC / Out of Office / Masters". Wahh wahh.

Kind of hoping it gets rescheduled for that first week in November. We have Tuesday tickets and my brother and I leave Wednesday for our annual Vegas/golf trip. Would be a pretty cool week if it works out that way.

I'm sure I'm wrong if we actually sat down and tracked it, but I feel like my distance control from every yard between 115 and 185 is better than it is from 50-115.

I consider it a huge hole and I've worked on it a lot and I'm better than I used to be but I still think it's a hole.

You give me 163 and I'm like, "OK, hard 7" but you give me 77 yards and I'm trying to hit a 5/8ths SW or a 7/16ths GW or something (fractions chosen for exaggeration). Q has actually tried to get me to play those shots a lot more by feel. Like. . .don't even get a number. I've tried. It wasn't an improvement.

And, my contact tends to be pretty good. I just don't have great feel. When I actually lock in the feel on the practice hole, I'm almost jarring everything, but it's a shot I've had trouble bringing to the course.

Might want to be careful doing that Kent, the cops in DE gave out warnings in the BJ's Wholesale Club in Millsboro DE to all out of state license plates entering the lot. Told them Sunday would be the last warning day, after this it will be fines.

I feel like my distance control from every yard between 115 and 185 is better than it is from 50-115.

I feel the same way. For me I think (?) it stems from just having more club options between 115 and 185. I have an iron that goes X far and between choking down incrementally to take some yardage off - I can usually cover just about any distance. But under 80 yards or so I've always struggled. I experimented with putting another wedge in the bag but that didn't really help.

I do not consider myself a good feel player at all. But Saturday I had 70 yards in to a back pin and was completely stumped. I would normally hit a hard 58 (75 yard club) but I knew it was either going to completely fly the green and not spin back at all - leaving me extremely short sided - or it would hit short of the pin and spin back way too far. So I just grabbed a PW and said, eh OK its about a half back swing, chipping motion, looks about this hard - and hit it almost exactly pin high.

But again, I don't consider myself a feel player. I guess I could practice being a feel player...but that sort of negates the point doesnt it? If I "practice" feel shots from 70 yards, its not a feel shot anymore is it?

I can't find 2019 masters final round on youtube. Looked for it last week. They have a few different cut-ups and segments but not just the full final round.

After we landed back in the states, I made it to my fave course (Stonewall) 2 days later and was kind of surprised at the amount of people that were out and about on the facilities. But after looking at it, people were plenty distanced on the range or shortgame/putting areas and then going out to play, I walked and other than the teeboxes was never within 10 yards of the dude I played with. Putting just left anything inside the grip as good so didnt even bother with the pin in etc. To me most of this thing that you can control is about the uphill battle against stupidity and the segments that aren't being really conscientious or listening. 95% of the people that day were getting their reps in, while keeping distance etc however I saw a couple of groups doubled up in carts, people taking pins out and some fist bumps. They could have been roomates, or something but seemed more like just their usual foursome out for a round, and for that we have Darwinism.

All in all while its not your house, its pretty easy to not even be close to anybody even paired up. Add a little hand sanitize in the pocket and it was a nice little walk.

I think this is one area where you need a REALLY good practice range, and/or a radar. You've gotta have targets at least every 10 yards, or ideally every 5. I've also seen where a lot of guys are dialing in their wedge distance control by learning what different swing speeds feel like, and what yardages those correlate to. You can learn what swinging 60 mph feels like, just as well as you can learn to hit a ball the yardage that correlates to.

Contrary to pq, it's actually the part of the game I care most about getting an exact yardage. Center, or front-center-back yardages would be fine on full shots. My shot distribution is wider, and my expectations are lower. I laser every partial wedge shot. For one, it helps because my perception of those yardages isn't great. It almost always seems like a shorter shot than it actually is. Second, it builds up my feel for hitting those yardages. If I laser 63 yards, hit a shot, and see how far it actually went, that's just helping me dial my feel in. If I just look at the flag, and try to hit it there, the only feedback I can glean is whether I was short, long, or pin high.

I am still playing because I think it is safer then being in any store or gas station. I build hospitals an it does not get any more dangerous then being here everyday. Golf is my safe place along with my living room. Been playing and following all the rules to stay safe so it is the last place I am worried about catching this virus.

I happen to agree that you are probably safer playing golf than going to work, but you aren’t following all the rules to stay safe. You are following all the rules except the ones you disagree with. Namely the state wide stay at home order that says you shouldn’t leave the state unless absolutely necessary and should self quarantine for 14 days upon returning from out of state.

I'm not trying to parallel a golf debate here, but in real life there are RULES and then there are "rules".

You know the intent of the rules to self quarantine when you come back from out of state and you know that what Kent is doing isn't the reason we have that rule. There's not a magical "germ barrier" at the border of Maryland and Delaware.

We need these rules in place because clearly some people need their stuff written out in black and white. People are lining up to get takeout around here and maintaining their 6 foot distance. And that's totally legal (even encouraged in some circumstances) but there are way more chances of transmission in that scenario than what Kent is doing, yet they're the ones following the rules.

We're still allowed to apply logic to situations.

My wife is a nurse in the Operating Room at Suburban Hospital. The hospital is completely overwhelmed with virus patients. The hospital is now making all management and staff go to crisis mode and do direct patient care. She's put the fear of God in the whole family. Other than going to work when I am scheduled (essential) or to the grocery store, I am staying put like I am supposed to.

Be smart, Be careful
