I've heard very mixed things about Tiger King, some people loved it, some said it was very over hyped.

Has anyone watched Money Heist? I watched the first episode...two months ago and am debating if its worth finishing.

It might be overhyped, but it has a lot of surprises in it. It probably drags at times, but when you're all done and adding up all the crazy stuff that happened in it. . .it's almost like there's 5 things in each episode that if they were the only thing in an episode, you'd go, "I can't believe that happened."

There's some legit scary tiger violence. There's drugs, sex, violence, harems, double crosses, love, delusion, politics. It's mostly, "point and laugh at the idiots" kind of entertainment, which isn't normally my thing, but when the people are idiots AND sorta despicable, I enjoy it more.

In the last week or so I've watched the new season of Ugly Delicious (only 4 eps) and back watched a couple Chefs Table episodes that I missed.

I thought my luck was running hot this weekend. The cast iron skillet I ordered actually came in on time - zero shipping delays. And come to find out, iron is the "gift" for your 6th anniversary. I dont know what that means but my wife was impressed and we made steaks and crabcakes for lunch today.

That luck came to screeching halt this morning when I went outside to find my car battery completely dead. Took Mrs DCs car to golf, will have to get it jumped or replaced tomorrow. Thankfully this is my telework week so at least I can be home.

Golfwise, it turns out I am not someone that can just stretch out in the parking lot and hit the first tee. There's a reason I hit 30-40 balls to get loose. 41 on the front with 4 three putts - really wet out but honestly thats not much excuse. It just took a while to get the feel of the club which is, again, why I need to hit balls on the range beforehand. Once I made the turn though, everything was great. 37 on the back with two birdies, just absolutely banging the D. Had 12 guys show up and ended up tripling my money so...that can help pay for my new car battery.

Good day to test the boots I had bought over black Friday for Bandon. Really lightweight, not clunky at all.

Headed to Frog Hollow yesterday in DE. Very wet but still a good day out there. Shot 43/42. Greens were a little rough but very undulated. No birdies. but still a fun day.

I guess I'm in the mindset of just riding this out until MD courses are open again. Obviously, I love playing golf more than just about anything, but it's almost like I don't even want a taste of it if I can't have all of it.

I have been swinging and putting in the house and might get out for some chipping in the park today, but I'm not really feeling a strong pull right now to play random rounds. I do want the course to reopen though.

I'm fine not playing golf again for a while. Sitting here typing this, I don't miss it.

 

Walking around the city or going hiking are not really doable at this point either. Everyone is out. It's impossible to keep 6 feet away from other people.

 

The expert's advice at this point is "Stay Home", so I'm leaning into that.

@aiyyer and I played with your TV friend, Jason, on Friday at Army / Navy Fairfax. He was great to play with and has a solid game and is long off the tee. @aiyyer brought a buddy too and we had a great weather day on Friday afternoon. Unfortunately we are closing down to guests starting today, but it was good to get out there last week before we shut down. Course is in solid shape so I hope we can stay open while staying smart with the social distancing modifications. It's a bummer not being able to do a post-round hang, but we're still playing so no complaints.

This is my first day on my working from home rotation. I am thankful to be getting paid but I dont know how people do it. I'm one of the most introverted people I know but I'm already going stir crazy. Thankfully I can only do this for three days on my rotation weeks.

Same with me. I’ll play golf when the courses open and until then I’m fine not playing. This pandemic needs to slow down and it won’t if people are still out. The logarithmic curve of cases is barely slowing down and at this rate, we are in for trouble.

It really is dang near impossible. Walking the dog has become a game of viral chicken where you see somebody coming towards you on the sidewalk and 99% of the time the other person doesn't budge, meaning I need to veer off into the road or grass to keep my distance.

 

I will say that I do miss golf terribly, but definitely understand the priority/importance of social distancing and being sensible. The sunrise wedges around the soccer fields at the park by my house have remained enjoyable and safe.

i've re-opened my range in the backyard so that i don't go into full blown golf withdrawal. i have flags at 40, 50, 60, 70, 80, and 118 yards. i'm hitting different clubs, flights, and both draw and cut releases. really enjoyable.

 

i have limited flight golf balls but hitting them is unsatisfying. my nephews (my sister is two houses down) and my kids played 500 with my limited flight golf balls as i was hitting three woods yesterday. that was an absolute blast. it's really really hard to catch one of those balls. yesterday 0 were caught.

 

All that said golf is taking a fraction of the time it normally takes for me and I've been fine with it. I played monopoly with my son Saturday. Sunday night we watched matilda as a family. I played this simplified version of poker with my kids. Yesterday I taught my son to play full blown limit poker (i miss limit poker. i'm one of the few that enjoyed as much if not more than no limit. the pace of the game is so much faster). I taught my son about odds and then mega rivered him when he had kings. I didn't know if that was the right lesson or the wrong lesson. ha. I've read a decent amount. we've played a bunch of games of horse. it was an awesome weekend.
