Right, you said you didnt think golf was essentially and I said I think I disagree.

Damn man, you're the poster child for someone that needs to take a non-Covid laced breath of fresh air.

Golf courses were deemed non-essential, by the state govt, as part of the closures. Not by me. Again, all in MD, not your state.

I've been out walking and playing with my kids every day. I'm keeping my body healthy with regular doses of vitamin D, fresh air, and exercise. I've got savings, so I'm gonna be fine with income disruption. I'm a-ok.

Also getting back to golf - did anyone watch the Tourist Sauce #2 episode last night?

@dcmidnight The 4.5 is the best all around bag IMO. It's not the best for an 18 hole carry, but the top is HUGE and the stand/straps beat everything. Fits very solid on a push cart or riding cart.
I took the straps off mine and put them on a 2.5+, which worked out very well.

Unfortunately it actually does not sit that well on the Motocaddy. Their stand bag has the pins that sit right into the hold/lock slots - so it just works better.

Agree with everything else though, its an awesome bag.

Home - Quail Valley Golf Course

QV is open right now.

I head that courses up there could apply for a waiver or something.

I thought about trying to find a range around work, maybe Belvoir, but decided against it after talking to my wife. Suburban Hospital, and probably all hospitals, are getting inundated right now. She said it's not good. I'll just stay at home or work (when I have to go in) and wait for the apocalypse to end.

I don't want to touch anything someone else already has.

my wife has been doing school at home. math, reading, writing everyday. she replaced PE with 3 runs a week. she's doing something for art and replaced "media" by reading to the kids. I think "science" is probably forced labor mulching. My kids are 1st and 3rd grade though. I'm not sure what you would/could do for middle school kids or high school kids.

With older kids, you have manual labor to get the spring yard work done. I have mine on a steady diet of early morning runs, yard work, PS4 and evening soccer and basketball. Grilled, good food and Brusters ice cream is keeping them sane. Nothing online programs yet in MOCO. Wish I could sign them up for some online trade school diplomas.

Regarding judging golf as essential or not, it’s a sensitive issue. If you have the luxury of staying at home, great. If you have a work responsibility for others and need to drive in to work ( Virginia) to keep stuff going, it’s different. Jobs for a lot of people.

With Basketball courts and tennis courts open in MD, there should have been a more nuanced interpretation of outdoor recreation to apply to golf. From a purely selfish standpoint. Club houses and country club perceptions probably did not help Golf either.

Unless Sean is giving a ride in to VA in his sanitized helicopter, probably a good idea not to discuss playing golf in other states.

If we do catch Fabb crossing the border to buy vitamins and booze at a VA Costco ..

I agree with Fabb. Golf is not essential to life in this situation. Not everyone is going to abide by the "social distancing" thing. I'm sure many will slip and shake hands. That's how this virus spreads. This is no joke. It's not just elderly that are dying. Heck going to the store, which is essential, people ride up your ass in the checkout, lean over you to grab the last can of Italian wedding soup. People if we chill now our life's will all get back to normal much quicker. If we keep pushing the it won't happen to me it will take much longer.

Getting outside is good. I try and get out everyday. Play with the dogs in the back yard. But I do not go where people are gathered. That's looking for trouble. In my opinion.

I'm worried about my son who is a senior. Will he have a graduation ceremony? Prom is already shot. He is missing the last several weeks of HS. Being a Sr in HS is about as good as it gets. He lost out. As did many. People lost jobs.

Everyone has their opinion on this. What is not debatable is the seriousness of this virus. For some. It is deadly and we do not even know how many have it. Testing has be done on such a small percentage of people.

Now serious stuff. Can someone tell the people in Urbana to stop hoarding Everything they see!! They have had very empty shelfs for about two weeks.

I just got a non logo’ed 2019 4.5. It is phenomenal. I always thought club tangle was unavoidable in a modest sized stand bag but the top on this bag is craaaazy roomy.

To be fair the list of golf courses that you own during this once in a lifetime pandemic is probably pretty short...

BTW, QV is now closed.

Here's a draft of a letter you can send the governor. . .

Dear Honorable Governor Hogan,

I understand this is a busy time for you with the Global Pandemic and all, but as a tax paying citizen (you work for ME, remember!??), could I please have a moment of that time. I'll get right to the point. . .can you please provide an exemption for golf courses during your statewide shutdown of all non-essential business.

I don't know if you're a golfer, but a performance athlete (YES, GOLF IS A SPORT!!!) plans his season around various peaks and valleys and my game is CLOSE right now. Did you know that golf season in Maryland officially opened on March 15th and I was primed. Now, I didn't play that whole week because the temperature only got to 60, but was I ever ready!

I don't know if you understand, but I spent all winter watching youTube videos and taping myself swinging in my basement. My ceilings are only 7 feet high, so I've had to make some adjustments, but I got this really cool app on my phone that shows me my shaft is really on plane, and on my practice swings, I've definitely cured that sway I've been working on for so long. I purchased a tour Striker Plane Trainer and now if I really concentrate on what my hips are doing, my club gets really close to the proper plane and that money would just be waste if I couldn't play golf.

On top of that, I picked up the new Titleist SIM for $600, and there are rumors they're coming out with SIM PLUS in October, and if I can only get 4 months of play out of the SIM, I'm going to feel like real sucker shelling out that 600 bucks.

Lastly, think of the votes you would secure with such a magnanimous gesture. You would LOCK UP the GOLFER DADS, a very important voter bloc in the coming election.

Sincerely,

A Tone Deaf Moron who VOTES!!!

PS : When you open the courses. please allow for carts also. Did you realize walking a golf course can be over 5 miles! I don't think it would be a good idea to stress people's cardio systems with this virus around the area.

The governor doesn't want anyone out and about. I guess he cant control the parks, but he can shut down businesses to try to keep everyone isolated. It's the only way this thing will be remediated. Some of what he's done is being over cautious. But, I'd rather him be over-cautious than not act and we loo. He's been very good at being pro-active trying to stop the surge.

Its the best stand bag I've found - by far. The Motocaddy bag is just better for the cart because its built to lock in - and I really like that you can unclick the straps as well.

Otherwise you're right, its so easy to get clubs in and out of.
