Wow. The US couldn't be any worse.

 

One group has to come back and at least half one of these. Right now our best bet is...gulp...Webb and Bubba. I don't blame Furyk for playing everybody on the first day, but there are certain people proving not to bring them out on Saturday.

 

JT/Spieth still have a shot to come back.

 

Other 2 are likely over. Phil is awful. DJ can’t make a putt. They are all hitting it all over the yard. Having 6 footers for bogey is not going to get the job done.

Americans have never been much good at foursomes/alternate shot, which I feel is the purest team game you can play in golf.

 

I disagree big time. It is very hard to get into a rhythm in alternate shot and has always felt tricked up to me.

 

Every shot you hit has an effect on your partner. There is some pressure when you're in fourball and your partner is out of position but you have that pressure every single time in foursomes. A hard format but one I enjoy to watch.

 

I think Europeans are more likely to play it growing up than Americans, which helps. Have played it with my father in Father and Son competitions, you really have to know your partner's game and try to set things up nice for them. Sometimes I think the Americans play it focused on their own game too much.
