Mizuno 919 Tour

I'm torn. I've been with Mizuno forever (as evident by my screen name). After a year of no golf I recently started playing again and decided to update my MP64s. I tried the MP18SC and MMC, 900/919T and F, and the Srixon Z785. I preferred the MP18SC's the 919T, and the Z785s. My local dealer will give me a pretty good deal on the Srixon's, so that's where I'm likely headed. I honestly don't know if I've ever had a Non-Mizuno iron over the past 10 years. Seems like I played the original AP2s for a while in 2008 but that's it. I may end up with SCs if I can get a good deal on some just for sentimental reasons haha.

Don't cross to the dark side...stay in the light.

I wouldn't say Srixon is the darkside. I'd definitely say it's just another light side. But, Start Wars references and golf never really mix. You do gotta respect Srixons lines as of late. THe last few years for them have been incredible.

But, yeah, in the Mizuno thread, everyone will say go MIZUNO.

Saw a Mizuno rep at range today and said 919 line is selling very well. He let me hit the new line including the new driver coming out in February. I loved the tours but wouldn't trade in my 900 forged for the 919s. The driver though......I hit it with the Atmos Tour shaft and it was HOT. I actually hit it mid trajectory and LONG which was awesome because I usually hit my F7 super high with spin. Have a plan to get fit and purchase driver in February. Sorry...this thread was about 919 Tours.

I hit the model with weight in back like the M2. Model was ST or GT 180 if I remember correctly. The other model which I didn't hit has 2 adjustable weight tracks. Appearance is very tear dropped in back and has an amazing profile over ball. I would describe the finish as fairly glossy and all black. The thing I noticed most was the speed off the face and how far ball went on mishits. Also has an adjustment exclusive to Mizuno which adjusts lie angle and raises toe of driver which helps toe misses. Rep indicated a bunch of the tour players are getting substantially higher ball speeds with this driver and will be bagging it and the 3 wood soon. If he is right we will actually see Mizuno woods on tour.

I've played 36 holes with the 919 tours 5-PW / 919 Forged 4 iron and I'm floored on how well they are performing. Not as punishing on mishits as my 900T and I'm not seeing as much of a drop off on mishits. I will have to give some of the credit to switching shafts. I was in Px 6.0 Lz 's and this time went with one of the shafts the Mizuno optimizer put me in (Modus 120 S ). I feel like much more snap through impact, maybe some of the sensation is from the softer feel combined with the shaft working more with how I load and release the club. I went with modern lofts and have seen no impact in stopping it on the other end. Between the three changes its been all a positive. Ive picked up over a club in distance, better feeling/performing irons...and it doesn't hurt that they look outstanding!

Can you elaborate on the modern lofts? Is this an option Mizuno offers?

MIZUNO ,,,,

(lol) But I have 919F - surprised by the extended distance - that ballspeed thing must work.

Do you think you can compare them to your XForged?

Honestly, I didn’t have the x forged long enough to remember. They were good, no complaints. I’ve akways been more of a Mizuno iron guy though.

It will be interesting to see how the finish wears on these over time.. one round and there are already some weird wear spots from rubbing.. not a big deal, but just curious to see how they age.

Performance was so-so.. I need more time with them and the new shafts.

I thought the same wearing wise.

why only so, so. I hit a coulpe 8 irons yesterday out of deep rough/ mini gorse and shocked how good they went.

I was amazed st how far my miss hits were going yesterday. Distance wise, I hit these the same distance as my TMB irons, just not quite as high.

Can anyone who has played both compare the JPX 919 Tour to the MP-53 in terms of forgiveness?

I'm contemplating going forged 4-5 and tour 6-PW. I went from AP2's to i210 and not really sure I'm gaining anything. May as well add another set to the mix!

I like the finish on the 919T and the looks of the club in hand. Just when I sit the club down at address... I am not a fan of the lines. Much prefer the MP18 SC. :busted_cop:

Man I find it hard to find much of a difference between the two behind the ball. The SC has a slightly thicker topline but really not much in it.

I would love to know what the HM Pro is suppose to be all about. Could possibly put them in for your long irons and have the Tours for the scoring clubs.

Interested to see how you get on with those shafts. I was fitted for exactly the same in my 919s but went a different way.
