Titleist 2018 Concept Irons (pics Pg 1 & 5)

Recommended Posts

I think they are quite attractive if you could rip off the entire badge that the hideous vowel lacking name is on.

Β

It looks like that name plate is just stuck on there. Such a shame. It’s always hard to envision a bunch of seasoned golf execs sitting in a meeting room thinking that giant badge and name is a good idea. How does that happen? Havent they ever heard of a focus group?

I don't understand the need to remove the vowels from the word Concept.

Β

You can't imagine why someone would want to be able to trademark it?

Β

My 1st thought exactly!

Some combo of any or all:

PT.. what ever you want

Β

But together, you have a name.

Β

I don’t care for the font, but considering it’s a prototype, they will probably get it in front of a focus group, since that’s where you present concepts before they go to market.

Seems like people are forgetting that these are a concept iron.

Β

How many concept cars would you look at it and instantly think, yeah that looks good I must have them? This is an extended test that Titleist can do with the various concepts. They are not going to release them to the mass market (they sold what 1,500 set of the C16). They'll use them them to see what works, what doesn't work, what people are ready for, what people aren't ready for and then I'd be sure that you will start to see the successful elements beginning to be incorporated into future AP lines.

That’s a very good point. Some concept cars have such crazy designs they wouldn’t even pass regulations to be able to be driven by customers.

Looks nice. As others have guessed, maybe this is Titleist's answer to the P790.

Β

I never really liked the name of the T-MB. It wasn't very marketable, and maybe that's why I don't see much buzz about them outside of golf forums.

Β

Couldn't possibly have anything to do with the $1800 it takes to get a set of them.

PT use to mean something for Titleist back in the day. I doubt it stands for β€œpro trajectory” in these clubs though.

Β

PT prototype ?

It meant Pro Trajectory in their PT fairway woods.

They look good but they just look like a blade with a milled back. I guess I'll reserve judgment until more information comes out.

Β

That’s certainly the idea. Look like a blade but play like a cavity back.

Β

Β

It’s definitely a PXG, p790, i500 fighter.

Β

They already make the TMb

I think the concept badge is stuck on to cover something. Look at the lower right edge and you can see what looks like the tip of a letter underneath.....or something underneath.

That’s not a badge. The back is all one piece of metal. The area that says β€œCNCPT” is just a blasted finish instead of high polish. I’m giessing they welded a face plate or something to a forged/CNC’d body.
