Does any fan really care who wins the Fedex Cup?

100% agree. And if there were no FedEx playoffs these same people would complain that the post majors tournaments don’t have enough of the top players playing.

I don't understand why people are whining about people who think the Fed Ex adds no value.

I make sure to watch the majors and most Ryder cups. I'll catch other tournaments here and there but don't set aside time for them.

And this is what I wrote on the other thread:

I don't understand how someone can get so excited to watch these same players play in May at Quail Hollow or Bedminster or Valhalla, but look at this tournament, or next week's at Medinah, and consider it meaningless and not bother and just say "the season is over".

I think you are mistakingly conflating "Playoffs" with "The Tournaments".

The tournaments are good because they have lots of the top players. They would be good without the playoffs.

Many of us love these tournaments but don't care who wins the cup.

You wouldn't have all these same players in these tournaments if they weren’t part of the playoffs

Correct. But we would have them in other tournaments. Just like we did before the FedEx started.

The FedEx hasn't increased anything. It just moved top player participation from other events.

What other tournaments would they ALL be playing in were it not for the FedEx events?

Wondered this today. What if the leader going in to east lake shoots 64 first day and the rest of the top 5 even par? And nobody else charges. Worst ratings ever for Sunday if Brooks has a 12 shot lead ?? I think it’s a real possibility as far as a danger to this format.

I dislike the FedEx Cup because it’s so contrived. The vast majority of golf fans care about the major championships and the run up to those tournaments. The PGA Tour with its wraparound season and nonstop attempts to promote the FedEx Cup as important just comes off as desperate. They’re the only premiere governing body with no major championship and it’s driving them crazy.

Not interested at all - it's just a contrived money grab before the padded eggball starts. Only interested in the Majors, the Players, and the Ryder Cup these days.

LOL! Surly you have to know right now that Brooks will win the FedEx Cup, it's just a matter of by how much. what we'll watch is his coronation…….just as we did Tiger many moons ago.

I'm just trying to figure out who this vast majority of golf fans is that you speak of. Most of my friends are embracing the FedEx playoffs and The Cup. The only thing that they're guilty of is trying to make it too perfect...which they never will.

I think people get to comparing FedEx cup to the majors, and think yeah this is not important. But it's now just a different thing. Never mean to replace the majors, just another series (season long too) to maintain excitement. Golf has it good that golfers are their own enterprises and can choose which tournaments to play, and thus can have a wraparound season. Other sports need a recuperation period because it's too taxing.

BTW the Wyndam Rewards is really quite awesome (for the pros). 2 mil for the top guy? That's something even Kuchar can smile about!

These are some of the strongest fields. Past formats just allowed golfers to skip events and still had the chance to win, which was stupid. Eventually it will settle down as a great event that people will love. Give it some time.

i think few care about who wins, and we care even less who's leading the points race in feb/march when they continually talk about the standings.

but not sure we'd be getting tiger in any tournaments this time of year if it weren't for FEC. we're getting one of the best fields of the year the next few weeks. its fun to watch the best players play, but its annoying to listen to announcers talk about crowning a season champion.

i still dislike the format going into the last round. we need two rounds of stroke play and then the top 8 square off in match play for winner take all. make it interesting.
