Does any fan really care who wins the Fedex Cup?

Everyone will care if Tiger wins.

Everyone minus one.

Make that 2.

OK, like 97% of people will care. Give or take a couple within the margin of error. :)

It would be significant if he won. History, his past, injuries, etc. But at the end of the day, I'm just happy he's on his feet and competitive. I hope no one is wishing him personal ill-will, because that's not him. That's you.

I enjoyed Shauffele winning the tour championship last year and didn’t care one bit about JT getting a trophy too.

I just like golf. :)

But to me, I'm more excited about the tournament, but not about the FedEx Cup.

Actually, more like 10%, give or take a couple within the margin of error.

In fact, I don't know anybody that cares (about the cup).

This year I'm actually somewhat interested as I hope Justin Rose would win the tournament and the whole cup as it would be a great start for the Ryder Cup week. I can't recall watching the tournament in previous years though.

I'd rather see a reverse Fed-Ex cup:

The players numbered 115-125 on the money list would play with those numbered 126-145 in one final event to keep or get your card.

Everything gets set to zero and let it be a two day stroke play dog eat dog gladiator thing with drunken gallery interaction.

At least then it would really mean something.

PS: Light beer and Arby's ads.

I think it is interesting completely aside from the $$$. Playing to get to East Lake gives me a chance to see the best golfers in the world battling where the best of the best make it to the final 30 which is guaranteed to showcase some great golf. While it certainly does rely heavily on a corporate sponsor their financial backing is what makes it possible.

You can't have one without the other, it sets the stage.

Fedex Cup trying to capture the playoff drama of other major sports but not successfully. The new format may be better. But they should just have the final event be winner take all, with everyone on equal footing, and rotate the course for the tour championship among well-known courses.

So umm yeah... pretty much EVERYONE cares who wins the FedEx Championship at this very moment, 5:40 on Sunday September 23, 2018.

And at 5:49 Rose just won the FedEx... so yeah, nobody cares again, lol.

For the first time in my life, I actually cared! Not quite the finish I was hoping for but he did hold on. Way to go, Justin! :drinks:

That crowd following Tiger is quite crazy though.

I promise you that I cared more this year than I will in the future. The new system is an abomination that, in my opinion, completely removes all competitive integrity from The Tour Championship as a tournament in and of itself. They have essentially sacrificed the tournament itself for the sake of The FedEx Cup. If everyone can just acknowledge that I might be halfway okay with it.

Having said that, under NO CIRCUMSTANCES WHAT SO EVER should an official tour victory be awarded to the winner.

Kinda flawed when a guy can take a week or two off from the 4 playoff events and still have a chance to compete for the $10M.

No way it can compete with the NFL. Sports radio stations this morning had the Tiger headline 3 or 4 stories behind NFL and college ball. Even me as a golf fan who knows way more PGA names than NFL names watched more NFL than the last two holes I watched yesterday.

Exactly, the Tour needs to be done at the Labor Day Weekend.

I was curious to see what the final standings for the Tour Championship/FEDEX would look like if they were using the scoring system that will be in effect for 2019. The champion would be Justin Rose.

Start Position/Opening Score/ Tournament score/ Total

2: Justin Rose -8 -6 -14

4: Dustin Johnson -6 -7 -13

9: Billy Horschel -4 -9 -13

20: Tiger Woods -2 -11 -13

1: Bryson DeChambeau -10 -1 -11

3: Tony Finau -7 -3 -10

5: Justin Thomas -5 -5 -10

11: Webb Simpson -3 -6 -9

17: Rory McIlroy -2 -5 -7

18: Xander Schauffele -2 -5 -7

19: Tommy Fleetwood -2 -4 -6

23: Rickie Fowler -1 -5 -6

27: Hideki Matsuyama 0 -6 -6

12: Jason Day -3 -2 -5

24: Jon Rahm -1 -4 -5

10: Cameron Smith -4 0 -4

21: Aaron Wise -1 -3 -4

25: Kyle Stanley -1 -3 -4

26: Paul Casey 0 -4 -4

28: Gary Woodland 0 -4 -4

13: Francesco Molinari -3 1 -2

16: Patrick Cantlay -2 1 -1

The players care since its big bucks for them. For me, I could care less, but I do care who wins the Tour Championship.

The point standings and their stupid premature explanations are a waste of time. Just tee it up and hit it!
