To each his own. Loads of factors on what feels soft, hard, flight high, flight lower, etc. For me, the 410s are softer than my GMax, Gs, 400s and better feeling in a Ping sort of way, than my long gone G700s . Could it be a shaft, ambient temperatures? Ball? I bagged all but the 410 in the PNW. Colder there than in Florida (<50° vs. 85+°) and may be why the G for me, looked fine but feel made me think Ping lost the G magic. G25 was and is my favorite, but WRX FOMO disorder is a powerful addiction for those of us who fall to the temptations time and again. Anyway, feelings are not quantifiable, and to your point, I can't wait for the G420,430,440...

They'll be 425s for whatever that's worth.

14 Pings. Blueprints are incredibly good. Fetch is the most underrated putter on the market. Don't @ me.

I have a question for you guys that have had G25's and now have the 410's. Do you really notice any difference in off center hits over the 25's? Are the 410's really that much more "forgiving"?

For one thing it would add cost. It would add spin as well, and that would likely reduce distance. People playing full on GI clubs like the 410's typically want distance, even at the expense of green holding power, with the longer irons anyway.

For me? Toe and low miss? No difference in forgiveness to my long gone 25s. Always more forgiving than I deserve or expect.

There is not a whole lot of difference but I think it's noticeable. I recently switched from 25's to 410's and my miss (which happens way too often) is a toe shot so I've got some direct experience regarding "forgiveness" in that regard.

What kind of distance/launch/height gains are you seeing between g25 and 410?

How do the 5 irons compare? Launch/height/distance?

I finally got a chance to hit the 410's today off grass. Beautiful looking irons with great turf interaction but as big of a Ping nut as I am they just aren't for me. Stupid easy to hit but they just felt really harsh. On the bright side,I saved myself some money.

Swingweight is a funny thing. I have 3 sets of clubs all the same SW. All 3 have different shafts. 82g, 106g, and 114g. They all feel noticeably different and the G410s with the Alta graphite feel heavier to swing than those with 106 and 114g shafts.

The 410 loft is much stronger so the distance is greater. I'm not exactly sure about the height comparison but I hit the 410 on a good trajectory.

Harsh? That had to be a heck of a mishit on the face.

The 5 iron is, but not the shorter clubs where the lofts are similar.

Smash factor was 1.40. I flushed a few. Strikes weren't that bad. It was only about 50 degrees but I've played Ping for almost all of the last 30 years. They feel hard. I know I was hitting hard range balls but other than looks I see no reason to switch from my G25's.

It may sound like I'm bashing them but I'm not. Obviously people are buying them and liking them. The pro at the store said they have been their biggest seller this year. My main point is other than having something shiny and new I didn't like them enough to spend the cash on them.

Like I mentioned earlier, I'm not sure about trajectory but the 410 height is sufficient. The 410 5 iron is much stronger lofted so I suspect it flies lower but it's certainly not a low flighting iron for the most part.

The G410 6-iron has the same loft as my AP1 (712) 5-iron. That's what I see when I hit my G410 6-iron. I'm not sure at this point that I am going to make the change to a whole bag of 410's.

That is a concern. I currently play a g25 5I to about 175-180 yds. I hit it fine most days. I then use a 22* 4 Hybrid. I’m concerned that a 5I lofted like a 4 iron maybe a challenge to elevate. I get that it is possible the 410 6I may go a simulator distance to my current 5I.

A 22* hybrid may crowd the 410 5 iron. I think actual distance will depend on how well you strike them though. Only way to know for sure is by testing yourself.

Played my first round with the G410s B)

PING nails the G line every time for me. Feel harsh? Ummm, NO!....Temp- 91° , 160yds out, Prov-1X, 7 iron after 7 iron painting the flag all day. 4 iron from 190? Easy as a nice pass with a 7. First round in the 70s in awhile.

Due to a couple of surgeries, my bag has gone from G700/Graphite, M6/steel, Rouge/steel and now G410/AWT. The progression was due to me getting healthier. 700s were actually fine but do not like the sound or graphite shafts. M6 or Rouge X. Awesome distance and feel but could not hold a green from any distance.

Enter 410s. All is well for now and they have a solid/almost-soft feel when flushed. Trajectory nice and high, slightly lower than my 700s but stick every bit as good. Ball marks either spin back a bit and at worst a foot or so forward. Love. Why do I ever leave Gs of any model?
