Titleist 905R is AMAZING

Probably the driver I had in my bag the longest time...must have been 6 years with the 905 with the Fujikura Speeder stock shaft...then I got the 910, which for me is just as long and much, much, much more forgiving (and 913, 915, and really, the 917, have not impressed me enough to switch although I played a 915 for a full season and went back to the 910).

 

I sold/traded my 905 like 3 or 4 years ago...I was surprised that I got like 45 bucks in trade...people still want those 905's.

The 905R is amazeballs. The first time I swung it I bought it off of Craigslist for $30 last summer. Even though the shaft was a little weaker to my liking that club took me places I've never been before on my home course with the feel that rivals my 510tp.

 

I was so impressed I got another one for $50 with a stiff Proforce V2. It's now my gamer.

I kept one with a Prolaunch Blue 75 shaft with that bore thru hosel. It's as long as anything else and hit my longest drive ever with it.

I hear you, last time I looked, there was 8 905r heads in my basement 7.5 through 11.5.(nick watneys).

I was gaming a 905S 9.5* with Graphite Design Tour AD DI 6S shaft (full bore). I probably should have done a blind bore but I can still hit this. I had gamed a 905T 8.5* previous to that and was able to work the ball better with the 905T. I just picked up a never been used 905T 9.5* with a Graphite Design YS-6 stiff shaft. I'll compare this with my current gamer (TM M3 440) and see if the results in terms of distance is close. I know I'll be able to work the ball easier with the 905T so the great experiment commences. I really believe Titleist Titanium drivers from the 975 through the 905 were the great period of Titleist drivers. There are some who really swear by the 909s/910s but for me the 975-905 period was the best drivers produced.

I think it’s the best feeling driver I have ever owned. Near second would be the Callaway FT-9 Tour Authentic. Both iconic sticks in my book! BB

I have a 909 D3 with a PM 902 - love that thing.

 

I also keep an X100 shafted 983k around that sees a few rounds a year...

Gave my 983k to a buddy and every time I play with him I hit it to see how far we have come .. great drivers but old Titleist stuff spins like crazy compared to the new stuff

That's why I really like the 905S. It's designed to spin less than the 905T and the 905R. I'm sure the 905S spins more than today's drivers. I'd be curious how much more.

I have gone 913 -915-ts3 and am amazed how much spin has dropped (playing same balls between each change) dropped 500 rpm of spin with the 915 -TS3 swap

Every change I think there is no way I can buy my way into more yards and have.
