Reid,

It is great to see the President of the Company out talking to consumers and promoting the product. It is a breath of fresh air to see that you take pride in your products and service.

I think the products look great, and I am ready for them to be in my bag. The wedges and irons make me want to get out there and play right now. The Pro M is the club of 2008!

To everyone else,
Lets help Reid out, lets show the retailers that Macgregor is a force to be reckoned with.

I can't get enough of this thread. I can't wait to atleast put that new amazing looking wedge in my bag. I've been looking for something good looking to replace my CG10. MacGregor Tourney stuff was always the coolest stuff to play back in the day. Its great to see they are finally getting current. I can't wait till mid December rolls around to see the new Stuff. Thanks Reid!
I just ordered my set of custom grinds from Macgregor and Don White is handgrinding them. Reid and Don and Scott from Macgregor have been amazing to work with. There custom grind program is unreal. Anything you can think of they will do. I will post pics when I get them in. In terms of customer service and quality I cannot think of another company that would go to these lengths for the general public.
rnolan79- How much does this cost?

1. What grinds are they doing?
2. Do they start with a finished set of heads and grind them, or do they use a raw set and grind them?
3. Also will they refinish them after grinding?

It sounds great but someone said this cost 8k to do. For $8,000.00 I don't think so. But having Don White and the Mac guys do special grinds is a real treat if it is affordable.

Gearhead,
It is no longer 8000 for a set. That was for the factory visit where you would work hand in hand with Don on your set. The price is much more affordable and for what you are getting it is one hell of a bargain. I got to speak with Don yesterday and go over all the grinds at my disposal and we settled on a mixture of the basic shape of Elkingtons grind with a little more bounce (elk has 0 bounce on his irons) and then an aggresive anti dig leading edge. From speaking to Don he will be handgrinding these from a raw block and then refinishing in satin. It really is amazing what can be done and I can't thank everyone at Macgregor enough for making my dream come true.

The prospects and possibilities here are getting more exciting by the minute...
rnolan79, can you tell us if the custom grind you are getting are going to be lighter weight, or will they be the same swingweight as the stock MT PRO-M's? I like Don's leading edge grinds.

They are going to be a D4 swingweight.

Man that is so cool. Cant believe you got this set up like that. He can set the bounce, leading edge, etc??? The grinds elk has looked square toed also. Aside from that the leading edge grinds that are agressive are like Bads right? Here is Bads DW grinds...

Thanks Ryan,
So I'm guessing that also answers Mr. Divots question too, regarding Don being able to do the leading edge grind from the forging blanks and having enough material to work with to maintain a healthy swingweight without having to compensate by adding weight down the shaft into the hosel, keeping the COG optimal.

That is exactly right. I have a really steep swing and tend to dig so I thought that would help quite a bit. Elks toe is a semi-square toe that is between Macgregors standard and square toe.

Spindoctor,
That is correct. I actually had a set of DW grinds made for a tour pro that the short irons were ground so that the COG was higher without having to bend the lofts. Don is a magician and can do anything you can think of.

For $8k to get a chance to be THERE while Don grinds your irons? That is worth WAAAY more than $8k. To get Bobka grinds from Titleist you are looking at least $15k. For the full experience $50k plus.

God Bless

According to Golfweek CHIII is being courted by Nike. I believe Mac would be a good fit for him, but I don't know if they are willing to spend the money to compete with Nike if this is in fact the case.
