I'd say Tiger is in a better position on all fronts today so maybe 2012 and the Ryder Cup (halved match) is in the past and not relevant. Yes, Francesco played really well at the Open. Tiger was in contention for the first time in a long time. Now that Tiger has been in contention to win the past three majors maybe we can see the Tiger of old emerge. As for the round today, I wouldn't call one stroke a failure.

My only hope is that Tiger plays well, focuses on a score and watches not just his group but others near the lead. Should make for a very exciting finish no matter how it turns out. Nothing like the back 9 at the Masters on Sunday.

If you remember the process, since he has already contended in majors last year, next step is winning one hehe

Please know that I am not posting this for reasons of ego or personal pride, but Just simply to clear up the air -- and afterwards I will stand down on this.

In support, a screenshot image showing 3rd round scores for Molinari, Finau, Woods and Kopeka is included in this post. The source is the Augusta.Com site. You click-on "Leaderboard", then the name of the particular player.

RE the potential Koepka scenario (and others) at 18 --- I was closely following all the play, was aware of the revised Sunday schedule, did know that Finau and Woods had finished at -11, that Molinari was at -13 with 2-3 holes left and that Koepka was at -10 with only the 18th to play. I also knew the general next day tee time pairing formula, which is (1) the particular score that is posted (-13, -12, -11, etc.) and (2) when two-or-more post the same score, then the earliest finisher has priority.

So -- I knew right away that a Kopeka hole-out for eagle at 18 would have him finish at -12, thereby giving him a spot in Sunday's final threesome. And that was on the assumption that Molinari finished out the 3rd round at no worse than -12 if not -13. In this scenario, the final threesome would've been Molinari, Koepka and Finau. Tiger Woods would have been bumped down to the next-to-last threesome with Webb Simpson and Ian Poulter

There were two other scenarios that could have resulted in the final group being Koepka, Finau and Woods, and the next-to-last group being Molinari, Simpson and Poulter. There are as follows ---

(1) Koepka birdies the 18th to go -11, while Molinari falters coming in and also finishes at -11. Woods and Finau were already finished at -11. Koepka would've been the third -11 finisher and Molinari the fourth.

(2) Koepka pars the 18th to finish at -10, while Molinari falters big time to finish at -10 after Koepka.

Someone bet $85k on Tiger winning the Masters at 14-1 with William Hill, a casino conglomerate that runs 115 sports books throughout the country. That would be $1,190,000. It's the single largest wager in William Hill's history.

What a Thread, been reading this from OZ, i personally think the pressure of the "masters" will get to Molls and Finau, yes Molls won over TW in the UK, but if the weather goes the way it probably will, then i think TW will come through.

The Masters is a different kind of major to the rest :)

Someone said Roory ? yeah where is he ?

my .02

Tiger is going to tie Jack by the end of the year! ?

Next year’s champions dinner menu will be served with a glass of Sunday red haterade.

Not saying Tiger won't win, but the pressure is not going to move Molinari. For him, there is no more pressure in the final round of the Masters than there is during the final round of the Open or in the Ryder Cup.

I get what you’re referring to, but the Masters is different. Can’t be explained, it just is. Regardless which side of the pond you play for. My 2 cents
