I may want to pick up a headcover from one of the courses, but the online shop is so limited compared to what I remember each shop having on site. Has anyone tried to call and order directly without seeing a picture or it being online? Unfortunately, I don’t now when my next trip will be.

Yes, they have pin sheets in the starter shacks near the scorecards. They aren't the ones where it shows so many yards on from the front or from one side, but have the greens divided into 3 zones and it shows which zone the pin is in. Given the size of the greens at Bandon, I'd recommend a range finder, as some zones can still be 20 yards across.

Agreed, their pin sheets are not really helpful unless you know the greens to begin with, especially on OM. I could see a watch being useful for fairway bunkers, but around the greens they'd be pretty useless, especially relative to a typical North American course most play.

I've called and ordered items that I knew were for sale in their pro shops but not listed online. They are (or at least were) very willing to work with you if you knew what you wanted and ship to you. Not sure they'd do a virtual tour or anything though. I do know that they had an Instagram story at some point last year walking through the shop advertising this feature, but I'm not sure they want shops flooded with window shopper type calls.

The Old Mac/ Seamus driver covers are the only ones I really like right now. It’s just a sewn in image of the ghost tree on 4 running length wise. It looks really good and it’s like a canvas material so $45 as opposed to $90

I was looking for anything with the ghost tree last year and they said basically nothing. Sounded like they weren’t using it in anything which I hated to hear because it’s just so mystical and memorable. Do you have a link or a photo?

They released the Sheep Ranch scorecard on Instagram this evening. Interesting that 18 is a par 5 because everything I read up until now indicated it would be a par 4 (71 total).

Just looked over the routing map on the BD site. Lots of shared tee areas and pretty tight all around. Going to be an interesting experience.

436 yards from the green tees is a short par 5 by Bandon standards for 18 on the sheep ranch. Does it look like it will play significantly uphill, or dead into the wind?

Looking at the routing, it looks like 18 starts at the water and goes back up the hill towards the old #1 SR tee. So if I picture it, it would be into a crosswind, up the hill to an elevated green maybe?

There's a picture of 18 in this article and the green is elevated. The cluster of grass bunkers in the center kind of reminds me of the mounds on 5 at Bandon.

Routing looks awesome, especially the mix of par 4s, long and short. Looks like the course will favor a Summer (North) wind with longer holes downwind and shorter ones into. In a South (winter) wind, the front 9 stretch 4-7 look pretty tough (but so gorgeous).

Was surprised by the length of 18 as well but should be fun to try and card something under par for the finish. The par 3s seem short and I didn't realize it was 34 out, 38 in, likely the result of take what the land gets you. I can't imagine it's anything but spectacular, I can't wait.

Playing Sheep Ranch in early September. I’m so freaking excited I can hardly contain myself

With all this being cooped up, my wife and I were planning to play the Mesquite Amateur at the end of this month...since they aren't sure about hotels being open, we are heading to BD at the end of the month instead. We have 5 days of golf booked with a replays on BD on day 3 and SR on our last day. The preparation for potential weather is making our heads spin. I assume the best course of action is layers, good shoes, good socks. I've golfed my whole life and my wife has played for the last 5 years but has almost 100 rounds per year. We are pumped and any additional advice that isn't in the many threads would be greatly appreciated!

Minimum 2 good shoes, and change socks. You guys will have a blast. In the summer take multiple light layers, you will be removing and adding them back multiple times per round. Head into town and enjoy your trip.

Got a full tour of SR yesterday & MAN! I can't wait until we get to play it!

There are definitely gonna be some close calls with golf balls given the proximity of tees/greens, but if I die on sheep Ranch, they can just bury me where I drop because that's the closest I'll ever get to heaven.

RE: 18 - I was pretty surprised it's a par 5 given the length and the fact that it plays west to east and is only slightly uphill...it'd have been easily explained if it played into that strong north wind, but who doesn't like to end a round with a good chance to make a birdie?

I have a 36 x 4 trip booked in October and part of the reason was to allow for two rounds on SR. I am not regretting my choice right now.

I can attest that it was really nice today. 60 degrees with little wind in the morning. Wind picked up in the afternoon but almost no clouds. Definitely best weather I’ve had out there.
