Yes! Although I can only watch in my mind's eye, it's already a good tournament. I get bored seeing the randoms -7 -8 -9 in seemingly every other first round leaderboard.

Would love to see Hyo Joo take it all the way. She is such a great swinger, and one of the best putters out there. A major talent in other words, one that nobody really expects much from these days.

Wie picked a terrible venue for her return. To not play for months and attempt to return at a long difficult course like Hazeltine does not seem prudent.

Three of the par 5's are listed at 541, 555, and 568. I don't expect that we'll be seeing quite as many eagles as last week. Lol.

It certainly seems the LPGA goes to the furthest back tee they might use on a hole one time and use that as the yardage. There's no way they're playing it at 6,807. The Gold tees at Hazeltine play to just under 6,700 yards, rated/sloped at 73.4/148 and that's for men.

Softer condition can become a challenge with a course as long as Hazeltine.

Comparing the scorecards, it appears that they're using the blue tees on a few holes. For example, the 6th and 16th are 380 yds, equivalent to the blue tees.

I have played there a few times. Like Oakmont they may have eased back on normal conditions to hold an event. Their standard every day rough is quite difficult. The ladies on average are better than the "scratch golfer" qualifications that give you course rating. That said it will be a difficult test for them this week. 6600-6700-6800 will not be the hard part to scoring well for them.

It’s not an LPGA (or in this case PGA of America) issue, or a website issue. It’s the fault of the volunteer walking scores with each group. If they make a mistake entering a score on the handheld device they need to work with the scoring officials to get it corrected. That takes time.

 

Please stop blaming the website or the LPGA (or in this case PGA of America) it’s only as good as the data that is fed to it in real time. Remember garbage in garbage out.
