PXG Spitfire

PXG released the Spitfire putter today. Curious what others think. I actually think it looks pretty decent, much better done than Scotty's recent attempt at this design. Only concern is the weight - standard weight with PN is 380.

I really like the looks of it but don't see me getting it. My buddy who plays the Bat Attack will probably end up getting it for sure. He texted me this morning asking me if I saw it yet. The PXG Gunboat H is such a good putter and TO ME the best putter I've ever had.

I got custom fit for the Spitfire with the double bend shaft. It’s getting built now and should have it next week. Will report back.

Looks ugly. Just like Scotty was ugly.

 

Sid note: why has pxg started copy in everyone’s ideas? Do they no have their own ideas??!!

Haha. I don't even own any PXG but **are you joking?** They've had several unique putter designs - Mustang, Drone, Gunboat, Bat Attack. Plus they have their version of many classic designs. Even the Spitfire is basically their take on a "notchback" type design. I don't know what you expect.

Any feedback yet on your spitfire putter. Considering getting fit and love the look of it.

I tested the spitfire vs. mustang. Feel is different for everyone, but much preferred the mustang. It felt more solid and I was more consistent with distance control. I really like the mustang, but know their will be many who love the spitfire. Both good putters.

Rolled one the other day and ordered it. Coming from a center shafted putter i was surprised the heel hosel worked best for me. Alignment with the spitfire just seemed so easy and i was starting putts on a much better line.

i was fitted for my original PXGs in Scottsdale at an Xperience (the Mustang).  I got to know several fitters and stay in touch. I have owned Gen 1, 2 and 3 irons as well as The Closer, The Operator, Bat Attack and the Spitfire. 

 

My fitter recently gave me the opportunity to buy a limited edition Spitfire, made from Damascus steel- the same steel used to build the planes in WW II. It is a gorgeous putter, with a great feel.

I did .... PXG will engrave your name on the outside of the two “flanges” as well. A beautiful piece of work.

Are you saying the planes were built from damascus or PXG somehow procures steel from said planes and makes a damascus?

The planes were made from Damascus...as was the putter.

how much did the Damascus version  retail for?

I’m confused. Are you familiar with how a demascus is billet is formed? Those planes are made from an aluminum sheet metal. Your putter is a steel demascus.

I am just familiar with what the PXG rep told me; it is not that important.
