Hit the 3 wood today. It is awesome. I am looking forward to the big tour. Should get some time with the driver tomorrow.

What’s funny is that I’m seeing some places say the regular price is $549 but they are discounting it $100. LOL. Marketing at its finest.

Posted this in one other thread. Hit the Cobra Speedzone line today. The Speedzone driver didn't give me any better numbers than my F9, which I still like a lot. I think the F9 avalanche (white) looks cleaner than the Speedzone too, without the white or yellow stripes on the crown. The F9 driver will be staying in the bag for 2020.Β

My F9 fairway, on the other hand, is very much gone. The Cobra Speedzone Big Tour 3 wood is the best fairway wood I have ever hit. Fixes everything that was wrong with the F9 fairway. It's 2*+ flatter, it swing weights heavier, it spins less, just as forgiving on miss hits, and maybe even looks better too. Most importantly ..... I hooked zero balls off the virtual range (huge win). Don't let the 13.5* loft number keep you from swinging it, you will hit it higher than you think. Also hit the Speedzone Tour fairway as well. It sits more flat than the F9 Tour Fairway and looks much better this time around, but man if that thing isn't the blade of fairway woods. "Workable" can be a double edge sword and I clearly don't need a workable fairway wood. Sure is pretty though...

Anybody hear of trade-in bonus for these? I bought my F9 last winter when most retailers were offering 50% bonus when purchasing new F9 and I think Callaway. Got the F9 for some old clubs and like $100 cash

Would love to clear out some older stuff again this year.

I have not hit it yet, but what I've been hearing is that the Xtreme is only 200-500 more spin. Of course it will be different for everyone.

As an FYI, while no bonus, looks like Cobra's website has started allowing you to trade in there with purchase, which is the first time I've seen them do that.

Dustin Johnson often experiments with the more forgiving model at the beginning of the year, before switching to the less forgiving, adjustable model later. Last year he started with the M6 and later switched to the M5. Tour pro's get their club heads hot melted to perform the same anyhow. Rickie also switched to a lower launching shaft (Tour AD IZ to Ventus Black). Maybe he is looking for more spin and higher launch. And some pros just like check out new stuff in the "offseason". I wouldn't read too much into this. https://www.pgatour.com/equipmentreport/2019/02/26/why-dustin-johnson-switches-drivers-equipment-clubs.html

Saw/hit today. Didn’t have my F9 to compare and they didn’t have my shaft but was hitting the 9* Smoke 60 6.5 pretty well. Hit it with the demo F9 as well. Center hits were about equal for me 160 ball speed. Some 1900 spins on the SZ which is somewhat lower than my F9 w Atmos Black 6x 2300 or so.

SZ is way louder. Metallic pingy sounding vs F9 muted thwack. Based on videos I was going to buy sight unseen but will have to do a real head to head comparison with my gamer.

I did a comparison today as well at PGA Superstore in Myrtle Beach.Β  A little about me for the slower swinging players that this may apply too.Β  I'm 51 and shoot consistently in the low 70's when playing.Β  Only 12 rounds in last year but use to be a pretty good amatuer tournament player.Β  SS has dropped over the years and the belly gets in the way a bit more now but still gamble with the young studs when they will spot me 3.5 strokes or move me up a set of tees.Β  Good ball striker and above avg putter of the ball.Β  HCP fluctuates from 0-3 but depends if I take 3 months or longer off.

Demoed the SZ weight forwardΒ in the 9 head stock length driver with Alidla Rogue 70X 60S and Hazerdous 60SΒ mostly all at 9* head...tried the 10.5 head and spin went up 500 or more and quickly moved on as it was topping out at 16.9 launch.Β Β

First up Aldila Rogue 70X 9* head.Β  142-144 ball speeds 12* launch 242 carry with dispersion L,R, and some down the middle.

Second Aldila rogue 60S 9* head.Β  145-147 ball speeds 12-13.9 launch 246 carry avg of 6 balls (longest 252, shortest 243).Β  Dispersion almost perfectΒ  strait flight with one draw that went 15 left..Β  (fit me like a glove)

Third Hazerdous 60S 9* head 141 ball speeds 5 shots carry 240-241.Β  Disperson all over the place as I just couldn't feel the head of the club in relation to my swing...never could 'time' it up...not the shaft at all for me.

4thΒ  F9 Atomos 7X 8* head draw setting.Β  145 ball speeds 244 avg carry.Β  Dispersion mostly middle but some left and 2 right.

5th F9 Atomos 7X 9* head std setting 142-43 ball speeds 241 carry avg. Dispersion better with mostly strait and 2 lefts.Β  spin moved up to 2600 avg.

Β

Spin

Rouge 70XΒ  2300avg

Rouge 60S 2150 avg

hazardous 2800 avg

My gamer F9 Atmos 2500 avg.

Β

I don't think there is a lot of difference in these heads but the Aldila Rogue 60S was definitely paired w SZ 9* weight forward was immediate compatibility.Β  Launch perfect, dispersion was awesome (15 shots all together with this combo...31 total drives before I started tiring.Β  Finished with 2 drives at 248 and 251 and well as they say that was it...no need to look any further.Β  For some reason I just spun the F9 with Atmos 300-400 more and launched a little lower than the Rogue SZ combo.Β  Minor gains but the dipersion and confidence was pretty dramatic for me and my game as a low to mid 70's player on 6200-6500 yd courses that are fairly tight tree lined.

Looks the SZ for me was even better with the infinity face slight shape difference as well but very minute.Β  I did not feel the difference in sound as I've heard others but hey I got hair growing out of my ears now.Β  The feel was awesome if you like the muted sound as I couldn't feel or hear the difference between the two.Β  IΒ hope this helps the 98-102 mph SS WXR's out there.
