Thanks to this thread I purchased the Air Hybrid in white. Coming from a 2018 Hoofer. I am a full time cart rider but like a stand bag for the convenience. Pros and Cons vs the Hoofer:

Pros

Love the white color. Fantastic looking bag that distributes the weight very well. The large top and handle are nice. Lots of pockets with the long apparel pocket being quite generous in volume. It is the biggest apparel pocket I can remember seeing on a stand bag. The slash pocket on the outside of the apparel pocket (not the waterproof valuables compartment) is also generously sized.

I like a dedicated putter well.

There is virtually no club tangle in the Nike. Ping really improved in this area as well with the 2018 model but Nike is better with 14 full length dividers.

The hydration pocket that is zippered is a nice feature so that protein bars don’t melt in the Florida heat.

I can fit my Bushnell laser and my Garmin G80 in the same rangefinder pocket (using no case for rangefinder but a slim case for the G80).

The open pocket at the front of the ball pocket is extremely handy for me. I like to keep tees, a divot tool, a pocket brush and a small ball towel with easy access as those go straight in my pockets before a round. It’s not a huge time saver but with all other bags I would use a small pouch to hold these items. I can at least eliminate that pouch by using the open pocket.

The Nike can hold a full size Sharpie while the Ping could only hold a Sharpie mini (and man did that annoy me).

Cons

14 way divider will take time to get used to. The Ping has a better pocket system - which to be fair to the Nike - is better than any bag I’ve ever seen.

For example, the Ping has a net pocket in the apparel compartment that holds sun tan lotion and chalk (for the range). The Ping also has a small compartment above the apparel pocket that fits a small pouch and has a net inside that is big enough to hold some change or magnetic hat clips.

The Ping also has a dedicated sunglass enclosed pocket where the Nike has 2 open pockets on the sides of the ball compartment (these pockets are different than the small pocket on front of ball compartment that I explained above). These open pockets on the Nike are not that big where a small sunglass case is a tight fit and mushed the ball pocket in. I could not use an Oakley sunglass case for example as this would mush the ball compartment too much.

Only the apparel pocket is big enough to hold my 40 oz Hydro Flask. The Ping has a small In height insulated open pocket that easily holds this bottle. With the Nike I can put the Hydro Flask in the zippered insulation pocket but I can only close the zipper about half way.

Finally what I wish all bags would have is Pings system of keeping the rain hood in the back pad. Such a simple little design that provides a huge boost in organization.

The side pocket on the side of the back pad is roughly the same size in both bags.

The Ping ball compartment is better. The Ping is bigger and the Nike has the bag frame butting a bit into the ball bag. The Nike isn’t terrible and still holds a dozen comfortably - probably up to 2 dozen - but the Ping is better.

There is a zipper in the Ping apparel pocket that allows you access to the inside bottom of the bag.

Finally the zippers on the Ping feel more heavy duty.

The only mod I did to the Nike was to cut a small pool noodle 2” short of a club grip. I took an old grip, cut 2” off that and inserted into the hole of the noodle to give it some rigidity. Fit nicely inside putter well slot and boosts my putter enough so the the head cover does not mushroom against the top of the bag.

Both bags are great. The Nike looks better and has a larger top. To me it’s a toss up when you talk form and functionality. They both have a ton of well laid out pockets. While I do like Pings smaller pockets within a pocket and the ability to externally hold my Hydro Flask the Nike has a bigger top, better handle, putter well and a zippered insulation pocket. The Ping still looks new after two years. With both bags I applied two layers of scotch guard immediately then I’ll be applying another layer every 3-4 months.

  • 2 weeks later...

I've walked about 10 rounds with my hybrid and have nothing but positive things to say about it. It's a bit heavier, which may bother some but once it's up on the shoulders, it so well balanced, it does not feel much different than lighter bags I've used. A few pounds, evenly distributed, isn't a big deal to me and I like 14 ways.

Getting clubs in and out is a breeze. The legs snap all the way up and work great. Plenty of storage. The straps are very comfortable. Looks great and sits up, without using the legs, in my office.

Just ordered the Sport Lite in black from PGASS. Trying to replace an old beat up OGIO Vision bag. Seems to be pretty similar and like that the Sport Lite doesn’t have that putter well handlebar

Sport Lite doesn’t seem to have a cart strap pass through and different top. I went with the light because I use a 4 wheel push cart and am afraid the Sport would be too large and the putter well handle is a no for me
